I got the 1 year Apple TV+ trial when I bought my iPhone 12. Now I bought the Apple TV 4K which supposedly come with free Apple TV+. So does it extend my trial? if yes how do I get it to extend?

Hi I just bought the Apple TV 4K and facing some issues with Siri. The option to activate Siri is greyed out as it says it doesn't allow if I'm using Singapore App Store? Anyway to create a US store account? I cant download Hulu app too.

You need to use a new email to sign up a new Apple ID and set the region to US.

How come Sg account cannot Siri for 4K gen 2?
The siri remote has never been supported in Singapore, just like how we still don’t get homepods for sale here. No idea what the issue is though. I use siri on my phone every day and it’s working well enough for me.

Ok have a question, for my setup.

Tv: Samsung 75’TU8000 w only 01 eARC
Home theatre: Bose 520 cinemate. Does not support HDR. Only up to HDMI 1.4.
Player: Apple TV 4K

What the best way to hook up my setup?

1) Apple TV 4K to TV (HDMI) and Bose to TV (eARC)

Enjoy HDR, but sound quality only 5.1. No DTS. I notice the Bose would power-off after awhile, cos the Bose has difficulty in detecting signal from the TV.

2) Apple TV 4K to Bose (HDMI) and Bose to TV (eARC)

No HDR, but sound quality 5.1 DTS

Personally, I would think that (1) is still the best.

I did some googling and found this post, which I hope may be of some help.

For this reason, we recommend that owners connect their 4K sources directly to the TV with HDMI and output the TV’s audio through a digital audio connection to allow the Bose system to reproduce the Dolby Digital or DTS formatted surround sound.
Any way to use optical out for sound instead?

Much appreciated. Chose option 1) also. The BOSE Cinemate 520 is kinda old, but it does sound reliably good still ( especially with the 2 back speakers mounted since day 1). Getting Dolby Digital 5.1 that’s all.

Been thinking of upgrading the home theatre set up. But alas the Bose still has not ‘died’ after so long.

I know that feeling. There's always something better around the corner, but your current equipment is still going strong and it feels like a waste to just replace it like that.

Still on option (1) - Bose to TV’s eARC & Apple TV to TV’s ARC.
Facing small issue. I prefer to use the Apple TV remote as a universal remote. It all works well, powering on the Apple TV automatically turns on both the TV and the Bose receiver. However, the Bose receiver will suddenly turn off after 15secs.

I have set HDMI-CEC to ‘on’ all 3 devices. I can’t figure out what is wrong.

Just get the 4K version for future proof. The price difference between HD and 4K isn't that much too.
