Can I know does the Simple X plays most type of video files like MKV etc ? supports DTS sound also ? Does it works by itself or need to install plex media player app on NAS ? Thanks

Its a client for Plex so you need to install Plex Media Server in your NAS.

Anyway, Plex if not wrong available in tvOS app store now, though I haven't physically check before now working. But I received the news from Plex that it is now available. Anyone can confirm?

The official Plex App is available now on tvOS App Store.

https://plex.tv/appletv

I've tried it, the Plex UI is really nice and my movies play seamlessly on the Apple TV. However the subtitles (srt files) not showing even though I've activated in the in app settings. Maybe there's a bug.

I think both the Simple X and Plex unable to read SRT files unless the subtitles are hardcoded.

For Simple X, it just hanged there.

The Plex app is able to detect the srt file in the in app settings before playing the movie. However, after I have selected the srt file, the movie just plays without the subtitles.

:s13:
btw, my set delivering today ...
originally slated for 5th
that's 2 days ahead of schedule !!!

"Under promise, over deliver" philosophy always make the customer happy and Apple happens to be one of those companies.

I had Infuse Pro on my iPad and love it. Great that's it is coming to tvOS - just hope it will be universal app

Yeap, this is an awesome app and I've it on my iPad & iPhone too, just waiting for it to be launched on ATV4.

Maybe it's a bug. Should inform the developer to fix it. Going to try Plex this evening.

Ouch! We need to buy a Plex Pass subscription to access some premium features: Monthly US$4.99 | Yearly US$39.99 | Lifetime US$149.99

Yup, but normal streaming from a local server is free which is what most conventional users will use plex for :)

I've both SG & US account. After installing the Netflix app via the US account, I switched back to my SG account and the app is still on the screen and was able to stream it via VPN.

Siri works the moment you change your location to US. No need to login to US account unless you intent to download apps or rent/buy movies.

Just curious why an Apple TV would be better off than a $80 android box. Considering the Google box can run Kodi.

Cuz it has a better interface and apps you already purchased on iPhone will be free.

I have android boxes and there are always problems, and it lags after a while when more apps are installed, just like android phones.

Any apps to watch Hongkong drama? Is it available in shops or better to order online?

there's Viki app to watch some china/japanese/korean drama (not sure about HK drama). There's movies too. and best of all it's free to watch full episodes / full length movies.
