atv 3 good enough for netflix and airplay right ?

I like it on ATV3 more than the other devices. I have an ATV4 as well and whilst the advertisements made it sound like Siri to choose movies/etc would change your world- it doesn't. It isn't even that capable at helping me find stuff so I stopped bothering with the voice.

You can see the battery level for the remote in Settings > Remotes and Devices > Bluetooth > Remote

Never say never but I very much doubt Kodi will be in the app store. The main issue Kodi has is support for Python. The ability to download and run code not blessed by Apple is a no no.

There is a fork of Kodi called MrMC in the app store now. But it doesn't support Python and therefore does not support any add ons.

So, if you want Kodi, sideload it. However, it is in pre Alpha stage now, and they are only focusing on the core of the app. Add ons may or may not work, and if they don't, then you'll have to wait months until Kodi on tvOS is in beta.

I tried the official PLP addon for Kodi, but it doesn't work on the ATV install :(

Been enjoying the ''pre-alpha' ver of Kodi on the ATV 4. It runs very well on the new hardware, I dare say it's even better than the Android boxes which I used to have. Worth side-loading.

Despite it being a 'pre-alpha', you can use the popular add-ons such as Phoenix, Genesis and DramaGo. It's all there already.

This morning tried one of those "helicopter" demos with 5.1 on Youtube. The Bose still shows its LPCM 2.0.

:(:(

My settings in ATV4 .. its auto.
Unfortunately my BOSE does not have much config to choose.
Its the new Soundtouch 520.

Just to close the loop on my earlier issue, BOSE online community did solve my '5.1' problem. The solution was simply to change the HDMI-CEC setting on my Soundmate. And it worked. Was not related to ATV but on my silly Bose.

Guys,

Just a quick confirmation that using appletv4 to stream video via macbook requires at least mountain lion osx?

Have a macbook pro unibody 2009 which i am going to upgrade to mountain lion or above but is unsure if its support streaming of video via apple tv4 to my tv.

2. Even if i did bother to try, i assume i would have to bring a small LCD monitor + find a power socket to fire up the ATV and monitor
