Apple TV and HDMI Switcher = HDCP error

Hi guys,

when i plug the apple tv directly to the tv, i can stream flawlessly. however when i attached a hdmi splitter to the tv then to apple tv, will have error, since i only have a hdmi tvt port.

"This content requires HDCP for playback."

anyone faced this issue or have anaged to solve the problem? i dont want o reinvest in another switcher/splitter in case it also doesnt solve the error with the new product..

any help is appreciated!

HDCP is encrypted. If you are using a splitter it won't work ever.

I'm not too sure about that. I have a 3-way splitter (bought in 2012) linked to my Mac, Apple TV and PS3. Works flawlessly. I use Apple TV to watch iTunes TV shows/movies, Netflix, Hulu Plus and even live matches on my NBA subscription. No problem.

Depends, you can get splitters which strip out the HCDP from the HDMI signal, which is probably what is happening with the splitter the TS has.

There are splitters which preserve the HDCP flags. He'll need one of them.

Both have their own pros/cons

Don't know if it's any help, but I bought mine at Funz Centre in AMK Hub. I spoke to the staff about my setup and they were quite helpful and pointed me to a particular brand.
