Yeah, you really can cancel.

After you get the free subscription, you can log into your Apple Account and see the end date / renewal date.

As long as you cancel before the renewal date, you will not be charged a single cent.

Just be mindful not to cancel too early, they will literally terminate your Apple TV account immediately.

Is it true for normal subscription is only 7 days trial thereafter $13.98 per month.
For the 3 month free trial, I have to buy an eligible Apple product. This is indicated on Apple TV+ website.

i have never signed up for any normal subscription, only the free trial after I purchased my IPad and also recently my IP 15.

however I believe that the mechanism should be the same for both .
