just bought iphone 6 (not 6s) last month with apple care+ lasr month. because I will be using it for 2years.

but for 6S. $228 for applecare+ is way too expensive.

in USA, applecare+ for 6S is 129usd. which is around 180sgd. apple sg is charging too much

I used to buy AppleCare for all my products as it's reasonably priced and Apple product does tend to have issues exactly after the one year period. (My iPhone 4, 5 and 5s had problems after a year)

I would have bought it if it were priced the same but $228 is too steep, add $148 to additional damage coverage and it'll potentially cost $376 to repair a cracked screen or water damaged phone..

Anyone knows how much it cost to replace an out of warranty iPhone?

IIRC, cost of replacement due to accidental damage is $550 if you don't have Applecare+; this was for 6/6+, don't know about 6/6s.

Hard to say if it's worth it or not; if nothing happens to your phone for 2 years then it may seem that it's not worth it. But say if you dropped the phone & the screen cracks etc, then it'll be totally worth it.

Just buy if u can afford. Rather than regret later. I bought for all my iPhone from last year onward even at 228 it still a lot cheaper than when u dropped it without and crack the screen.

I forgot to add an important point why I decided against getting the AppleCare+ this time. AASP or Apple has recently changed their policy to keep replacement at a minimum by repairing components rather than handing out replacement phone. On my most recent visit to repair my 5s, I was told that they need to take in the phone to test for 3 days and I was made to sign a form that stated that my phone has scratches all over the phone when my phone was in a 10/10 cosmetic condition. So unless you're getting it for the accidental damage, paying to repair certain components like the screen or batter, even if done with AASP, may be even cheaper.

This is if your return phone is in good condition and repairable. If the phone is in bad shape and non repairable u will pay more than $448.

AppleCare+ is more for the accidental damage replacement. Now all AASP only do repair which is why they are even there in the first place. Apple system was so good till some unethical ppl make they lost the trust in local market.

i would say just get it. incase of any "wintermelon bean curd". If in any case u change your phone before the the Applecare+ is fully utilised (less than 2yrs), then call Apple to refund the balance of the unused Applecare+. Yes it can be done..... ! Done that many times. Just to have peace of mind.


BUT, if there is a claim (due to the accident) and you paid the deductibles, then the refund is not possible liao even if its below 2yrs.

Get it, just this weekend I had a friend who went down to Apple to repair his phone and the guy told him no apple care+ will be 500 plus.

He went wheelock place the authorized repair centre.

Sell the iPhone next year, use that $200+ top up (if needed) and recontract iPhone 7. Who cares about AppleCare?

Sure that the best however if u accidentally dropped your phone and it cracked?? Still able to sell and top up?? Maybe yes and maybe no.
I know of a Frenz whom dropped and cracked the screen twice within a month with a case on.
Nothing is impossible but of cause u can take precautions to avoid it.
It is just like insurance , have so even thing happen no worry but thing happen?? Too late??
My recommend is as long u can afford it go for it.

Yup. My wife didn't want to get Applecare+ until I nagged at her... 2 weeks after she bought Applecare+, she spilt a jug of water over her phone..

lucky the phone was OK after she put it in the rice bin. Even if the phone died, all she needed to pay was $108 for 1-to-1 exchange...
