I just found out from Apple support that if I were to purchase AppleCare Plus for my iphone7 now, the support coverage is tagged to this Iphone 7 until the end of the support coverage.

I would not be able to transfer the coverage if I were to upgrade to the new Iphone even if I have not entered into the second year of support.

No refunds even.

Any comments from u guys?

Perhaps it's a new updated policy.
You can call them up again to speak to a different rep and see what do they say.

Yah, I also found it strange. Could be updated policy because Apple seems to be getting more particular in terms of support.
My previous understanding wasn't like this.

As far as i know, coverage is tag to the current phone. Does not extend to your next phone.
