Applepay QR code payment?

So there was a merchant that I pay digitally. They have a QR code which when scan with iphone camera will launch safari website which have apple pay logo..

So is like this QR code link to Apple pay checkout website.. Which u can use apple pay to pay. After paying. The transaction appear in Apple wallet.

anyone use before? Googling not much info..

Basically your merchant is using web-based 3rd party payment gateway to process/receive payments:
- Stripe Payment
- Ayden Payment
- Payment Options etc.
as such, Apple Pay is integrated as a payment method.

How it Works:
You have to understand that Apple Pay's only trigger is by NFC (physical contact).
To use Apple Pay in any other form, it has to be called upon by an API (web-based).

Magic:
The QR code simply points you to a static payment page where you key in amt or,
the merchant generates a dynamic weblink - converted to QR code for you to scan
and you click on Apple Pay checkout button on the website to call up Apple Wallet for payment.
