Hi guys! Just got a job in the US, and looking to apply for the H1B1. Problem is, I'm not in Singapore at the moment, so I'm looking to apply for the US non-immigrant work visa in Europe: Greece or Italy most likely. I know the official word on it is that it is better to apply in SG, but I was wondering if anyone had any practical experience applying for the H1B1 overseas. Thank you!

What's the queue date in those places?
Typically it takes 3-5 days after interview to get your visa but it can be longer. So if u apply in say Greece u ready to stay in that location for 1-2 weeks waiting for your passport? Canada I know u return to collect other place they mail it. U have go to their post office to get the stamp etc for them. Mail screw up passport missing is a issue.

Official word is better as if u messed up document and needs to get it u have access to them. And then return to queue. Better on the money.
If u rich and can stay in that country for extended period of time sure.

Oh this is travel sub forum leh..

Also, what is your reason for being at Greece or Italy?

For example, SG embassy will reject any applicants who have no long term pass in SG, or non SG residents, especially for the countries that have their own local processing for US Visa. For example, some of them want to skip the long queues in their own country and apply in another country, which is usually not allowed, unless you have a long term pass. Therefore, if you are just on a tourist Visa there, your application might be rejected outright.

EU countries might be less strict, but might still require you to reside in EU, please check before wasting your time / trip down.

Cool, wish I can work in the US, but I'm not a high flyer.

I applied for I-130 and my priority queue date is around February, 2018...
