According to these articles,

https://hothardware.com/news/nvidia-geforce-amd-radeon-pricing-downward-trend-supplies-improve

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-amd-gpu-prices-down-25-in-march-beginning-to-normalize/

wonder if the effect will spill over to SG :s11::s11:

Today, and for the first time in several months, we are happy to report that we come bearing good news. Supply is finally beginning to pick back up and prices are finally starting to come back down to levels of sanity. During March alone, we saw prices come down by as much as a third on high-end graphics cards, such as NVIDIA’s GTX 1080 Ti and AMD’s RX Vega 64.

SLS Shops are very fast at raising prices but lags behind when dropping prices. So It'll not happen anytime soon.

It will, just a matter of time.

But don't expect price return to pre-mad-mining level any time sooner than 3 months in SG.

maybe by the time it happens, the mining craze back up again and the prices will just remain sky high :s22:

It appears to be declining close to launch RRP. This is likely due to low crypto value and expected release of new GPU this year.

if TS ask this so that he can buy gpu now
I suggest TS to buy cheapest 1050ti to last till new launch of GPU.
Then he can sell away his 1050ti at loss of $100 or lesser.
Depreciation of $100 for 3 months seems decent.
once new gpu are out, he can buy latest model

I just hope that the entire crypto mining market crashes when everyone suddenly realised that crypto currency is quote worthless. :s12:

i think all non-miners hoping the same thing. you are not alone! :s13:

Better not totally crash. OEMs will find it hard to clear their stocks and maybe some may fold. OEMs like Asrock start making gpus from AMD due to the mining craze. Now we have 1 more OEM to choose.

The current high ROI for OEMs helps them to spend extra $$$ for R&D.

Your next gen gpus might be fuelled from cash windfall from miners.

I predict prices will bottom out in 1-2 months. Wait for the best deals.

Lol... ASIC in the picture for mining Alt Coins, sure will crash... its a matter of when, not if anymore.

Altcoin Devs can just hard fork and make ASICs machine expensive paper weights.

Monero coin just did a few days ago. All altcoin have that flexibility.

That's why gpu mining is sought after. I read somewhere 3 million gpus where sold last year.

lol.. the ASIC do a firmware update release then the ASIC machine is back in action! GPU mining can nvr match a ASIC mining capabilities.

ASIC are design hardware coded in the chips to run a specific computational algorithm. That's why 1 ASIC machine can have hundreds of chips computing 1 algorithm.I don't think ASICs does firmware update to run new algorithm.
If coin developer switch up or change the algorithm, ASICs are useless.

The reason why ASIC is much more efficient is because it is hardwired to do certain things really fast. You cannot change it to calculate something it wasn't designed for, at least not with similar efficiency.

You might be confusing FPGA with ASIC. FPGA miners can be updated with firmware. But this also means they aren't at the same level of efficiency as ASIC.

Or you mean altcoin devs can just hard fork and make GPU machines expensive paperweight

What decides which fork should be worth how much?

Or rather, what decides which coin should be worth how much?

If coin developer switch up or change the algorithm, ASICs are useless.

The same can be said for graphics cards that over time become unoptimized for particular coins. Insufficient VRAM is one reason. And they have already created forks in order to let these GPUs to continue to be usable. Or sometimes entire new altcoins.

So now it is just different groups of people trying to convince others that somehow what they're doing is worth money.

Are you trying to convince the miners to go for ASICs instead? :s13:

While this is true, GPU mining is still seen as more versatile than ASIC. And some miners probably want to at least have the flexibility of having something to mine or at least could sell if they can't use it.

SLS Shops are very fast at raising prices but lags behind when dropping prices. So It'll not happen anytime soon.

Any profit seeking shops will do this. Most of the mark up is coming from the shops I believe. Which could explain some of the huge price difference from shop to shop during the mining craze. After all, even if they jack up the price significantly back then, people will still take as much as they can get their hands on.
