Are GPUs worth buying now?

Hi guys, would like to hear your opinion on the current GPU prices. Prices may have gone down quite a little as the mining craze is slowing down, but nowhere near the MSRP. Are GPUs of current pricetag worth it? Considering that they're almost 2 years old and new GPUs are rumoured to be released this year. Would you spend money on an iphone 5 that costs near as much as a newly released iphone 7? And why can't the GPUs fall to or below MSRP? Considering they're almost 2 years old and new cards are coming out?

The cards are still selling, why should local retailers drop prices when its still selling?

A budget conscious gamer should try hunt for used cards on carousel or our graphics bazaar section. Just be careful not to kena chop carrot like some buggers selling gtx680 for 250 sgd or gtx 980s for 400sgd

For people with no issue with their finance, buying GPU on the 1st day is not an issue for them, no matter what is the price.

looking at the situation now, i regret not shelling out the money for a 1080FE. can use so long somemore. Most prob gonna bite the bullet and do that for the 1180FE.

Buy it if you need it. The prices are not that favorable for 2 year old generation, but it will not make you think about buying/ upgrading unnecessarily.

yeah. when the 3rd party 1180/1170 depends on performance come out I think I will replace my 980ti and I will just use it for 2 or 3 years. Rather than wait for price to inflate then drop maybe its worth to just grab it early.

Well, if you buy a 1080Ti now, it will perform like a 1170 when 1100 series is out. Then when 1200 series is out, your 1080Ti will perform like a 1260 and so on.

Wait for 1170/1180 to come out. There's no reason to buy current gen card now.

Well I understand that, but isn't it natural for the price to drop as time goes by? But the gpu prices are still above MSRP. It's ridiculous, take a smartphone for example, over time the price tend to drop as time goes by or when new flagship model is released.
