Are present R9 290 still unlockable?

Imagine i buy Tri-X 290 and unlock and then overclock, can win at life?
Any new 290 owners care to try? Unlocking aka bios flashing should be safety first with dual bios feature.

overclocking of gpu increase in performance by a bit only leh... plus flash bios will void warranty wor i think ...

It depends on your luck when it comes to overclocking. And no it won't void your warranty if you revert back to default bios after flashing.

iirc, only the first batch of ref r9 290 cards could be unlocked
current non refs cards are not
