Hello! Four questions.
  1. Are you using phase change thermal pad on your CPU?
  2. Why / why not?
  3. What CPU and CPU cooler?
  4. What brand of thermal pad and where did you get it from?
  5. Bonus, any considerations and/or tips?
Thank you and have a good week.

PS: Some sources for PTM7950
Recommended by @KleoZy. Middle AKA Mi Dou or "Shenzhen Midou Trading Co., Ltd". Manufacturer of Upsiren and likely some of the white-label PCM-1.

Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet PTM is, according to Roman “der8auer” Hartung, a PTM7950 rebrand. It is available locally via Tech Dynamic.

Happy shopping and good luck!

PPS: I decided against using the Honeywell PTM7950. I used the Noctua NT-H2 with a NA-TPG1 thermal paste guard instead.

This will be good option if you intent to keep your processor for long and don’t have time to do intensive clean up. Plus heat phase pad will not dry up. For my usage. These are my answer

1) test it and it does provide good results after sometime of curing but am not using it
2) I change liquid cooler very frequently as I do testings
3) Liquid cooler
4) Honeywell ptm 7950
5) with steady hands or finger

I like my PTM7950. Bought it a year ago and still have a bit left. It did work well for laptop CPUs so that's my basis of comparison. Have replaced the thermal compounds on 6 laptops with it, along with my desktops (3300X and 14400F) and there has been some improvements noticed.

As advised by others, freeze it first so it's easier to handle when cutting and applying. I like how it's easier to apply than thermal paste if you're into spreading the paste over the CPU - the PTM is already "pre-spread" in a way.

Powercolor Red Devil use Honeywell PTM 7950 I believe. Some other high end Gcards use that.

Good morning and that makes sense. Are you still using graphene sheets? You did a splendid review of the Gelid HeatPhase Ultra. Where did you get the Honeywell PTM7950?

@firesong Good morning and yes, used to spread Kryonaut and pipe dots with NT-H1/2. Do you store the leftover in the fridge/freezer? Where did you get your Honeywell PTM7950?

@naked123 Good morning, do you have a link to the Shopee listing to the PTM7950?

I am also considering Thermal Grizzly's PhaseSheet PTM (locally) and Thermalright's Heilos V2 (Taobao/Tmall). Thank you and have a great day!

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005094747733.html there will be cheaper at other online stores but I prefer to get it from this seller as all his item are authentic.

I changed to phase change pad just to try when I switched to my liquid freezer aio. bought some taobao china branded ones (莱迪PSH800) since genuine PTM7950 quite ex and hard to find genuine.

was first time using aio also and honestly the temps weren't that much better than my previous air cooler. I thought maybe is the pad that is the issue, eventually I changed back to regular thermal paste (polartherm) to see and found out that my expectations for aio was just too much lol.

the temps using the pad is slightly better but not by much. longevity should be better due to the nature of phase change material. I too lazy to change back now.

@KleoZy Thank you!

@ignies Absolutely. No reason to bother unless either there's an abnormal rise in temperature or upgrading a system.

Some phase change thermal pads:
  • Cooler Master Cryonamics
  • Gelid HeatPhase Ultra
  • Honeywell PTM7950
  • Thermal Grizzly's PhaseSheet PTM
  • Thermalright Heilos V2
  • Upsiren PCM-1

You are most welcome. in my opinion. have tested a couple of those you've mentioned. I will say stick to PTM7950. among all, this pad, in time after usage, it gets better lower temp results. Addition to this, PTM 7950 not only used on PC aircooler or liquid cooler but on Aircraft, vassels, even on laptops, tablets and etc.

I got mine from Ali I think. One of the shops mentioned as legit by a few reviewers online. Was some time back, so I need to check.

I cut, and return the rest to the freezer. It's in a Ziploc bag and sandwiched in between a cardbox layer to help it keep its shape.

seems this thermal pad like not bad...
Added bonus, no pump-out effect.

I saw pump out on some of the more popular thermal pastes on a laptop CPU. This was what prompted me to get the PTM7950.

I do agree with what you've mentioned. That's the advantage of applying PTM 7950

but on the other hand. if you keep testing products like processors, motherboards, liquid cooler. Application of thermal paste is not as difficult as you think. Over the years, plug in and out from open bench. You can achieve a certain standard when applying thermal paste.

This is not PTM7950 it's Thermal paste and I am proud to say, I only need to do it once and do it right to get good thermal results. 😁😁😁
