AS-602T RAM upgrade problem

Just got myself the above device together with a Kingston ram KVR1333D3S9/2G which I believe to be the same as what was stated under the compatibility list of (KVR1333D3S8S9/2G). Upon installation of the ram, the system boots up without Power and HDD LED, only the network LED is lit up. But I'm unable to access the device. Also noticed that once I plugged in the DC the device startup by itself without having press the "on" button. Any idea what's wrong? Tried resitting the memory a couple of times but still the same. Is it ram incompatible? Thanks.

pls at least intro what the device is or at least the brand when asking for help.. first glance thot it was an AIO frm asus

sounds like a stick of faulty ram. did u buy that stick as an aftermarket upgrade?

it powers on by itself most likely due to the bios set to "reboot on power failure"

Apologies, as I cut and paste from another forum and since it was pretty quiet there, decided to ask peeps here.
It's the Asustor (by Asus) 2 bay NAS model AS-602T. Got the 2GB sodimm ram brand new from SLS as there is no proprietary ram and the Kingston 1333 was listed as a compatible ram.

If the NAS was shutdown properly, after introducing to a new ram, why would it bootup due to "reboot on power failure"?

dont be surprised that brand new stick of ram is faulty.. happened to me twice alr and i dont buy brand new ram often.. if its still under 7 day one for one recommend u swap for new piece. otherwise rma

try to reuse the old stick to test if the system is still ok. if it is then confirm is ram spoil or incompatible. ddr3 cant go below 2gb and normal speed is 1333 so dont know what else u could buy

Sometimes is the RAM itself...
Some NAS cant take in some 16 [8x2]chip RAM module. *Correction made~
like my Synology DS1812+ only take in 8 [4x2] chip RAM. Transcend code [OO]

Unfortunately it's an upgrade and I don't have an old piece to test out if it's faulty

Some NAS cant take in some 32 [16x2]chip RAM module.
Take note on this

Which shop did you brought the Asustor from? Did the NAS manage to bootup when you take out the RAM used for upgrade?
The device startup by itself after the DC power is plug in is kinda normal, I experience it a few times already but it should have the power and HDD LED light up.

So-dimm only have 8 chips or 16 chips.
Based on Asustor website, its a 8 chips RAM.

if really want to try, you might need to go down Sim Lim.
Find a shop which allowed you to try.

My experience with StorageStudio, with my macbook RAM upgrade. They allowed me to try, but if tested working, item need to be purchased. So far, RAM working great in my old macbook. Noted: they only sell Transcend RAM.
(take the chance to ring them first. since you taking other brand NAS)

The ram isn't compatible with the system. ASUSTOR - Innovation Makes a Difference. It appears that most, if not all, of the ram model listed here are using eight chips instead of sixteen chip (the one you have).

Was the memory self upgraded or by the shop? If it is the latter, you should bring it back to them to troubleshoot.

Sigh.. ok.. guess partly my mistake..thought the model KVR1333D3S9 is the same as KVR1333D3S8S9. On Bizgram online website stated is S8S9.. went down to get it and was D3S9...just called them up and ask if they have the 8 chip.. they don't have it. so means their website information is wrong!
