It doesn't seem like FIFA requires the players to hold the countries' citizenship. Just need to be eligible by familial ties, place of birth &/or residency.

Wonder how distant the familial ties can be...

Noticed the Indo players with actual heritage are mostly third generation. If their Indonesian ancestor(s) moved to the Netherlands shortly before the end of 1949, they are the equivalent of mainlanders who 'left' for Taiwan around that same period, or Vietnamese who 'emigrated' in the years leading up to 1975 :o :o :o

Older Indonesians tend to have old style spelling of names which were influenced by Dutch, e.g. Soeharto, Tjoe, Tjandra, Djin

Not quite sure what's the criteria but Raddy says one of his grandson born in Singapore.. does that mean the grandson son and grandson grandson can play for Singapore too?

I see that the Fandi boys are not released by their clubs .... can the clubs do that? I thought have to release players for national teams ....
