I would like to commute daily on my foldie (Vert V8) but I find it difficult to do. My commute is about 16km one-way, Upper Thomson to Yishun (quite hilly). It takes me an hour to cover that distance. By the time I'm done, I'm already hot & sweaty. Currently, I commute by bicycle once a week.

Since we're on the issue of cheap bicycles, is this more of a cheap bicycle problem or more of a fitness (or lack of) problem? Will getting a "better" bicycle make my commute slightly easier & more comfortable?

As a current commuter who does 8km one way daily, when I started the Loyang slope was the big hurdle each day. You wake up in the morning with sore lower back, aching thighs and throbbing knees. It became a mental thing just to mount up the saddle.

But after a few weeks of constant daily conditioning, fitness improved. No more cramps, no more pain, no more wheezing to get uphill. You would also have familiarized the route and know when to change gears, when to brake, when to speed up.

Unless you were awarded very poor PES levels. You would recall the first time you knock 20 then knock 100, so on and so forth. After some weeks through BMT, you just take it on like it is.

I think they are Adidas Evil Eyes. Can check later. She shopped like crazy before settling on these.
Erm....... she didn't google? eBay & Wiggle retail AEE from US$253.36 downwards.

NEVER buy sunglasses/frames in local shops. Why are there so many optical shops?
Because their profit margin is oh so fat!
I bought my pure titanium rimless frames from TB for less than S$10, excluding shipping.

Any newbie will struggle along the Loyang slope. But after a few attempts, the body will more or less get accustomed to it. Its just like climbing stairs.

Upper Thomson is more shiong because the terrain has quite a bit of slopes. So it will take more time for him to accustom.

I'm seriously considering just buying an electric bicycle, it would make commuting much easier & probably cut it down by at least 15 min.

Team Edmw all ride road bikes?

I can never join because my average speed is 20km/hr and max at 27km/hr.

Sent from dunno where using GAGT
I just like the idea of getting a little bit of work out and sweating more, some people like jaybee are able to keep up with the roadies.. if there are more ppl, the speed will be slower, if ~3 people the speed normally super fast
R u all going to make a team Edmw jersey?

Sent from dunno where using GAGT
This one not under my idea l
