heng SG50 giving out free tuition dollars, nao moi can goes take engrish lesson!!

I would like to refer to: Cycling laws in Singapore, which can be found at http://www.ntu.edu.sg/ohs/safetyforeveryone/Documents/Singapore Laws on Cycling.pdf

However I have some questions regarding, point 7 (1).
Quote: "7. (1)
No bicycle shall be ridden on the right of another vehicle proceeding in the same direction except when overtaking such other vehicle."

In an event where the left most or "lane 3" is linked to another road such as an expressway. Where or how should the cyclist be if he wish to travel in the straight direction?

A similar law is also stated at the end of point 7
Quote: "Bicycle to be ridden on left side of road
8.
Every bicycle shall be ridden close to the left hand edge of the roadway and in such a manner as not to obstruct vehicles moving at a faster speed. Load on bicycle not to exceed 18 kg."

Which brings back the original question of where the bicycle should be.

I would also like to extend my question to bicycles turning right. When or how far or even how can a bicycle turn right on a cross junction? When would be the appropriate distance to filter into the right most or "lane 1" for the right turn?

I am unable to find the official answers online and I hope the authorities would be able to help me

2 Please be informed that under the Road Traffic (Bicycles) Rules 8, every bicycle shall be ridden close to the left hand edge of the roadway and in such a manner as not to obstruct vehicles moving at a faster speed. While Rule 7(2) permits two cyclists to cycle abreast on the road, Rule 8 gives guidance to a cyclist (single or two-abreast) to keep reasonably to the left side of the road so that motorists are able to overtake them at a safe distance.

3 It is pertinent for both cyclists and motorists to then apply both rules in the context to situations, bearing in mind the intent of the rules are to ensure the safety of both the cyclists and motorists. Therefore in the case cited by yourself, travelling on single lane roads, and especially when there are vehicle waiting to overtake, it is reasonable to expect cyclists to avoid riding two abreast (even if it is permitted under Rule 7(2)) and instead travel in single file to allow the vehicle behind to overtake safely and not to cause obstruction. On the other hand, when motorists need to overtake the cyclists, they should do so by i) ensuring there is a safe distance when overtaking (to avoid side swiping the cyclists) and ii) to overtake when it is only safe for them to do so (e.g. ensuring there is no oncoming traffic from the opposite side, when overtaking at single lane roads).

After reading wall of text moi dunce noes what ish going on riao :s22::s22::s22:

the answer like no answer like that.

trying to turn right at a x-junction is always a headache for me. As a cyclist, its hard for me to filter to the rightmost lane.

So end up, i cross the junction as a pedestrian...

i know, but i try not to cycle when i am on the pavement, i use my toes to push myself and bike along...

if don't want to go left is kinda easier... i will look behind and filter out. Filtering out 1/2 lanes is not as bad as trying to get to the right side of road to turn right...

don't bother asking SPF. they are trained to answer with lotsa vagueness and ambiguity so that they can reply without giving an answer.
