how do i tell if a bike can fit 406 and 451 wheelset?

i saw comments saying bike using 406 have to check if the bike can fit 451 for future upgrade
does it means 451 can confirm fit 406 wheelset?

For 406 to 451, u need to check how much additional space u have between the wheel and the top of the fork. Also, u need to factor the brake pad height. For 451 to 406, need to make sure wheel to side of fork got enough clearance as well as brake pad level.

Have to check clearance, inclkuding brakes.

If you are using Tern link or verge series, 451 wheelset will fit cuz I have already modified my tern from 406 to 451. ;)

One basic question for the experts here.

My setup is this:

SRAM 10 speed chain
Shimano CS4600 cassette 25-11T 10 speed
Shimano flat bar shifters SL-R770 10 speed
Ultegra FD and crankset

Can I use Ultegra RD 6800-GS 11-speed derailleur on a 10-speed system?

Bought a second hand RD 6800-GS and found the shifting to be weird; either can't shift smoothly at either the lower or upper end of the cassette. :s22:

Of course can use but whether will shift properly arnot nobody knows

I don't see the point of just upgrading the deraileur

In general

Shifters, rear d and cassette must be the same "speed"

You can probably get away with a non same speed front deraileur

Crankset generally compatible across all speeds unless it's like 6 speed and below since the chainring are fatter

Im not too sure what's the reason why you cant shift properly, If I recall correctly, 11 speed cassette are 1.85mm wider maybe the deraileur is optimized for this

My guess is because 11-speed cassette is narrower, so a 11-speed derailleur shifting has to match its respective spacing.

Anyway, i will be getting ultegra 6700 RD from c2c. Will be selling the 6800-GS. ;)

can someone advise on the following forks?

GTMRK 560 dual Air Suspension Fork
Can pump air on crown and lower leg
120mm travel

Rockshox XC28
Coil fork
100mm travel

Which would be a better upgrade? Currently using SR Suntour XCM HLO 100mm travel fork (coil) with hydraulic lockout.

Firstly, can your frame take a 120mm fork? Also, I think coil forks are heavier than air forks in general (for same travel).

I got a Manitou Minute Pro 100mm from Tionghin for my prev Para.. worked really well. ;)

Looking for both price and service. Went in to talk to one of the staff there and there was a middle-age man that assisted me. very helpful and answered all if not most of my enquires about the bikes. Working around a limited budget is hard and he recommended a Silverback entry level road bike.

Was considering Polygon previously for its affordability but putting into consideration the nearest dealership is at commonwealth, any follow-up servicing and help will be a hassle. Hence, looking also for convenience.

Thanks for the input though!

As I am new to the scene of road bikes, my aim is to actually learn along the way and if possible keep within the budget as much as possible. The one recommend by the shop owner is actually a Silverback Strela 3

Silverback Technologies GMBH

Is this considered okay for about $1k?

No wonder so many ppl switching to air forks. So the way air forks work is like tubes - need to pump air regularly?

I saw another one with 110mm travel -

Custom FOX Air Suspension Fork Kashima Coated @ $350
-Taiwan's Factory Custom Air Suspension
-100% FOX suspension inspired design
-Lockout
-Air suspension
-OEM Kashima coated

Is this deal worthy?

If my stock fork is 100mm, that's the highest limitation I can go? There's like mixed views about mounting longer forks on frames that come default with 100mm fork.

Thanks for the help! Will I be better off with a polygon, and in the process save some money though? Also, was quoted 999 for the Silverback Strela 3
