It's a very expensive route if u want to head down this path...

The only brand that comes to my mind that has maybe 70-75% performance of roadies is Tyrell, and Tyrell costs 30-50% more compared to a similarly speced roadie, that i'm not even talking about the foldable Tyrell.

The cycling group that consists of mainly roadies which i used to ride with, there was this lady with a super souped up Birdie with 60t chainring, fitness wise she's about the strongest rider in the group in my opinion.
This same lady now rides a pinarello.

There were other decent riders with Tyrells, Alex Moultens and other high performance minivelos or foldables, a handful of them changed to roadies to ride with the group now, the rest don't ride with the group anymore.

It's either a folding bicycle or a road bike. Mini velo is neither here nor there.

I still believe a folding bicycle is more practical. Singapore is small, there are many mrt stations around (easy to fold and roll) and hdb flats are getting smaller. PCN speed limit is 25kmh I believe. That's why I ditch my bigger bikes and just go for folding bike.

One had to cycle I roads using road bikes, and looking at how many drivers curse cyclists dead, I think it's better to cycle on pcn.

Mini velos are great for cycling in city on pavements. I cannot imagine a road bike giving the same agility.. Of coz foldable give the same agility but if you don't need the folding feature, might as well get a mini velo to save that bit of $$, and also less joints means less problems!

I think the market segments, though overlapping, have their own niches

I'm riding a foldie. Even with very short rides (less than 30 min), my wrists will hurt. I have adjusted seat and handlebar height as much as I can. What else can I do to prevent wrist pain?

Change your angle of engagement, perhaps. Or change your grips.

I'm using the Ergon GP1, which allows me to rest my palms on the grip.

I like the looks of the old Raleigh MV7, too bad they decided to stop this design and make the new Raleigh MV7 with straighter tubes.

I'd agree with you totally on this, I called cheap John a few weeks ago and he had a Gios minivelo for sale, I am not sure if its still there coz he said it was the last one.
That being said, I think SG is more of a minivelo rather than a foldie country, the bulk of the foldies i've seen are rarely folded or kept indoors lol

I believe there are 2 areas you can look into, wrist angle and the grip itself.

I changed my grips to ergonomic grips for better support, I also tilted it so that and angle of the grips so that it lies in a more natural angle.

Riding on road never ever insist on your right if way and Also practice defensive riding.

We have way much more exposure now compared to many years ago
