Very subjective question.

Need to qualify few things

1) Are you specialized in either retail banking, corporate banking, investment banking or private banking?

2) Do you consider KYC and Sanctions part of AML?

3) What about AML advisory? Sanctions advisory? Because AML is not just about surveillance.
Retail and corporate banking. I would think Kyc, sanctions and advisory as separate units within AML compliance. If it's just surveillance leh?

is it true employers dont like private degree holders?

Not true. Work experience is more important.

If just surveillance, your pay will be pretty low compared to if you do sanctions advisory or KYC advisory. I would say experienced staff typically don't get more than 5k (with about 5 years experience)

What's the estimated time-frame most banking teams onboard their new hires?

This scenario:

1) Recruiter sends New hire to interview

2) Manager tells New hire he'll get the role, and to expect call from HR

3) Same day, recruiter calls new hire back and asks for references

4) Then... nothing the next day?!

Whats a fair waiting time the new hire should wait for? one more day? one week?!

2 weeks?! feels like 2 months to me HH! x__x"
I really looking forward to new role!!!!

Okay next question HH,

The recruiter asked me to provide references from a role I took (one year+++ ago), what if I can only remember one line manager name.

1) Does it look like I'm hiding something?!

2) Will anyone really speak with my line manager from One Year+++ ago?

anything you can advise me to tread through this successfully given my situation?

what's a good answer to give?

please help advise me !!!!

if I land this role, I will worship you!!!

1) If you cannot provide 2 managers, then tell them if can provide colleague or not. (especially if the colleague was higher level than you)

2) Yes. they will

Thanks.. so now I ask chop my recruiter to buy me a nice makan.

Not every company pays the same commission. Depending on how the company is structured. There are companies who only pay 1/3 of the amount i am getting (because the work they do is broken up to 2 people or more)

TS, can I ask if you have arranged foreign or inter-country interviews before?

1) Let's say, a local wishes to migrate, but wants to look for a job overseas first, can he ask HH to do it for him?

2) Vice versa, overseas sinkie wants to return home after a few years stint overseas, can he call local HH to look for local job first?

3) Are interviews strictly conducted physically, or can they be done via Skype or Facetime? If a candidate is to be interviewed physically by overseas company, does the air flight expenses come out of the company, the recruiter, or the candidate himself?

I read through all the posts of this thread. So, would appreciate if you have some thoughts on this.

Thank you!

Not really. Go thru your past emails or ask your past contacts if anyone still has your manager name and contact?

1) Yes. But usually only if the person has very specialized skills. Better for the person to get an internal transfer to another country.

2) This is far easier, assuming the person is a Singaporean

3) Interviews are usually through phone first, or even possible they have you have multiple phone interviews with multiple people, then physically. They will usually fly you over.

It's okay.

Thanks HH, I believe its best for me to do nothing and hope for the best for now.

This particular reference check is really difficult for me.

But I really, really need to get this new role

Ts,keep hearing from headhunter now the market can only command 5-10% for job switch with relevant experience. Is this true?

is it also true that headhunter try to low ball candidates so they have better chanceof closing the deal.or less negotiation is needed so easier to close deal

My personal experience now: recruiter offers me a 30% to do a jump. relevant to what I've been doing.

I say I'll be happy to do it for 20%. I emphasized just close the deal asap

these few days I'm waiting wondering what's taking soooooo long.

hope my personal experience helps you

I mention many times already.
The higher you get the more the hh commission is.

If he say 5 to 10 percent is an indirect way of telling you his client can only pay that much
