They can sue? I signed a contract with one co but then now I might have another better offer, will have to reject the first one if I want to accept the 2nd one. Shouldn't be a big prob right?

In theory, they can sue, but most of the time (like 99%), it doesn't make sense because your position is probably not very senior (not as if you are the incoming CEO of the company) and it is just not worth their time (and money, since they need to engage a lawyer) to sue you.

does this apply to GLCs and govt sector?

Hi HH,

I'm now in a unique position.Went for interviews and was asked reason for leaving. Replied that it was a contract position and looking for stability in a career.
However, I was asked to go (a.k.a. Terminated) before the contract was over.

Company A then came back with an offer.
Should I inform them of this situation when I accept the job offer?

thank you.

Depends on whether the startup has a concise plan on how to grow the company or not.

But end of day, unless you are working for a top tier MNC, the type of internship does not matter.

Only if you know that the company will

1) Call your previous HR without asking you
2) Do a background check of your details on your cv via a background company

What will u recommend to a fresh grad to increase his chances of landing a job, given that companies nowadays all want experience hires.

Assuming that he is an average performer, no excellent cca records, had two month internship.

Work in a big MNC, after a number of years ask for overseas posting.

Or work in an area which is in demand in those countries.

Be open to industry and job scope, and not go in with a close mind of what the job or company is like even before stepping into them.

Hi hh.

Is it common now for the letter of agreement from recruitment firms to state that if I leave the job during the 1st 3 months I have to pay the recruitment agency 1 month of my salary?

Not sure. I don't specialize in this area.

Be open on what kind of job scope the role wants you to do. Try applying for more junior roles

Nope.

Most recruitment companies don't have this clause (in fact i don't think it is enforcable in the first place)

Only a small handful of companies have it, and they give a bad reputation to all the other companies

OK, thanks.

I actually got into a new job 2 months ago from one of the recruitment firm,

their name is A*****e Group.
(Cannot say whole name, guess at your own peril).

Their LOA for me says if i quit within 3 months must pay 1 month salary to them. And right now I really hate my job, but i cannot secure new job yet.

Had 3 recruitment firms called me as I started searching already, but none has gotten back to me about the jobs they introduced...

Should i just risk it and quit? I really cannot stand the company now... I feel damn stressed out. And it's just by having to wake up to come to work.

Please don't get me wrong, I enjoy working, but when you work for a company (or may i say boss) that has no directions. It's damn stressful.

I think edmw once had a saga where someone who was hired by one of these unethical agencies had the same problem.

Then it went to court and that guy won against the agency.

By right if i recall, these clauses are not enforcable in Singapore (or at least so far i have never heard of it being enforced)
