Dear HH,
I went for a final interview on 30th Mar. The headhunter called me on 9th April stating that the company thinks very positively of me, and responded late because London was having bank holiday. I don't think they are seeing any more candidates because HH mentioned I'm the last they are seeing. What are my chances of getting the job? I don't think companies will delay so long to make a decision if they truly are interested right?
How long a company takes to make a decision depends on whether
1) it is a replacement or new headcount
2) the skills required to perform the job and how senior the role is.
3) how big is the dept
I have seen cases where the offer came 2 months after the final interview.
I have also seen cases where it came within 1 day.
Secondly, when a company wants to hire people, they typically engage 2 or 3 hh to work for them.
Your hh cannot give you a definite answer because he does not know who the other candidates are and how strong they are.
Unless, their relationship with the hr is strong enough ( this one must see how experienced your hh is), to the point that the hr will tell your hh who the other candidates are (even if they are represented by your hh, of which he can give you a good idea what are your chances of getting the offer)
