1) Because when a company hires, they want to know the push and pull factors, job stability, etc

2) Working as a HR manager in a manufacturing firm

3) 6 years

4) Government jobs
who would be so stupid to disclose their push factors?
obviously say that there isnt any push factor right?

What will be a close match or the right one? 75% or 100% in any job match by employers especially for roles in banks?

Hi HH, is it OK to reschedule an interview with direct hirer? The scheduled date clashed with an already planned business trip. Will chance of getting hired decrease due to this? Tks.

Wrong.

You will be surprised that in Singapore, regardless of whether the hiring manager is local or non local, in many instances, you will not be hired simply for the lack of push factors.

For example, i have a live case which i am currently recruiting in, which is to work with a senior director in a foreign bank in Singapore, who is hiring people for his dept (and his dept is highly specialized so there are very very few people who can do what his dept does in Singapore)

Do note that in his dept, he only wants to hire Singaporeans, and everyone is a Singaporean (he himself is a local true blue Singaporean so don't say he wants to hire FT)

He has interviewed at least 5 people from me (all fit the bill so all have strong technical skills)

And all 5 were rejected because either
1) They have no push factors
2) The push factors were not strong enough

Because. His company, and dept, is no better than a lot of other companies out there who are doing the same role, in terms of job scope and career progression and the "troubles" they face (even though he can give 15 to 20% increment on their basic salaries)

In my experience, if you have no push factors or no strong push factors, 50% of the time (or more), you will not even be offered the role, because, the potential employer is afraid that you will take a counter offer from your current company, if there are no push factors.

Close match = few areas

1) Technical competency
2) Employment history
3) How well you can work with their particular team in the company or with the current manager (in terms of personality, etc)
4) Salary expectations
5) Availability (1 month notice vs 3 months notice)

Depends on when it is rescheduled to.

If it is rescheduled to within 5 days it is fine. But if it is say, 2 or 3 weeks later, they will probably reject your application then.

If a candidate wants to go back to the workforce, however has been self employed for a couple of years, e.g. doing tuition, real estate marketing, would your advice be to put it on the resume or leave it out? Will employers be put off by the self employed period? Candidate is at entry level executive with 2ish years working experience prior to self employed stint.

It would be better to put it on the resume.

This will explain why you have been not working in a full time job.

Does push factor mean giving reasons why you are looking to resign from your previous company (due to certain things you do not like/ have no interest to pursue) ?

I do not understand what you mean by "push factors" are there any exmaples?

Dear HH~

How likely will companies want to hire a 30 years old ex-navy regular with a FCH from SMU and a diploma with merit for management or management trainee position?

Ca i know what are the more common push factor you hear? and uncommon/ unexpected but acceptable ones?

Long working hours, working location not ideal, etc.

There is no such thing as a real "acceptable" push factor.

is a company's financial stability(poor cashflow) a good reason for wanting to leave?

Well, if the company is on the verge of collapsing then yes.

how about company poor management? SME in particular

Only if you have taken all reasonable steps to speak with the management and failed. and it is causing you not to do your main job scope well.

Not sure but but it is extremely difficult to get a MA role.

(Citibank for example, interviews over 50 FCH from both local and foreign universities, and selects 2 or 3 out of the 50 FCH to join them in their MA program)

Hi HH,

I've completed 3 rounds of interview (2 face to face and 1 phone) with a prospective employer and am scheduled for a case study/role play cum interview session the coming week, following which I'm told that there will be a final phone interview with a global manager.

The recruiter has at the same time asked for me to send her scanned copies of my NRIC (but not my other documents for eg school certs etc)

For purpose of context I'm not seeking employment in the finance/banking/accounting industries.

1. What is the purpose of asking for my NRIC?
2. How would you rate my chances?

You don't need to be working in finance/banking/accounting to be liable to a background check.

They are either using your NRIC to
1) Check if you have every applied to their job portal or thru another source in the past
2) Check your background for criminal records, etc

If it comes down to a presentation, usually it means there will be about 2 to 3 candidates in the running max.

So by statistical, you will probably be 50/50%

Doing Defense security sales

Commission is almost impossible to get

Environment – Coy going through re-org but otherwise comfortable with office environment, also near from home (about 10mins drive)

New Job offer is in different industry

$3,400 (basic) + $1,200 transport + $100 hp allowance

Doing furnishing sales

Environment – Listed company but working under female boss + female collicks, only male in dept if I accept (about 30-40mins drive)

Hi HH, I interviewed last week at a GLC. The HR partner who was at the interview called me on Tues to tell me I was successful and ask for payslip so they can put together a salary offer.

Sent them my payslip the next day (wed). But till today no news yet. Should I be concerned or is it a norm to wait more than a few days?

Thx in advance!
