<Assistance Required> Desktop cannot power on

Happy New Year too!

Sometimes intention is good but the result is terrible very unfortunately; i should just let it be dusty; this will probably be the way going forward Probably experts here can advise me how to clean desktop properly will be highly appreciated!

I highly suspect it is the mobo too, but replacing the mobo is as good as getting a new rig. Although i am not keen in getting a new rig (both time and cost), i think short term pain better than long term pain, just do it once for all and next time don't anyhow "touch" my internal pc anymore

If u not into PC building.. just go to any sls shop to pick the parts you wish and ask shop to assemble for you.. As an oldie, i prefer going to sls for pc build than going online service like aftershock.

Another way to clean your internal PC without touching is to use a dust blower. It is very effectively and u don't need to touch anything while blowing the dust off.. Or invest in a casing with proper dust filter and place it on the table not e floor. Just clean the filter once a while and your PC internal won't have much dust..
Unlike the old time where PC casing is just a white metallic box.. after i get back to PC building during covid.. i was so surprised that the casing design improved so much over the time.

If you know how to DIY, it's a fun hobby and can slowly enjoy the process but usually I complete it within a day include install OS. I had DIY my own few sets and last time don't even have YouTube to guide.

Yea, have setup a few rig over the past 10 years; just that since I seldom touched and follow-up these days, its quite a chore. However, after the past 1-2 weeks "clean-up" experience which is as good as building a new rig, DIY another new rig should be fine, hopefully

yup yup, the worse case is to get the shop like PC Theme to assemble. Have custom builds since young, all from SLS.

What kind of dust blower? Those use to clean camera lens one or other kinds?

actually i got the opolar one and use it during my recent cleaning, not sure if it actually caused static and made my hardware acting weird thats why the issue of not able to power on happens...

As someone who deal with industry panel, I don't think so with normal dust. However we will be much more careful if there is metallic conductive dust (produced via hole drilling etc).
Hopefully there isn't any metallic dust bit at your environment while doing cleaning.

i see, definitely no metallic dust of such in a typical home environment. thanks for sharing your experience

Thats' why I hardly do any spring cleaning on my PC.
Occasionally I will open up the casing and use cotton buds to remove any accumulated dust on the fans.
Clear up any dust balls. That's it.
I try to keep my room condition clean and dust free.
