"a) all applications of less than S$50,000 for Class A-1 Bonds or less than US$50,000 for Class A-2 Bonds will be allocated in full or in part; and

b) applications of S$50,000 or more for Class A-1 Bonds or US$50,000 or more for Class A-2 Bonds will be balloted, with successful applicants allocated in full or in part."

Means better to just apply for $49,000 each if you want it?
what is 'better'?

Guaranteed but smaller allocation?
Non-guaranteed but much bigger allocation?

Going by Astrea 7's allocation table, those who applied for $49k all got $12k, and of those who applied for $50-74k, half got $22k. For those who are interested in around $50k of bonds, getting a guaranteed allocation of $12k beats half a chance of getting $22k (50% x $22k = $11k expected value).

Of course, this would change depending on actual demand for Astrea 8. The numbers will be different but the $50k mark is the same, as Astrea announced.

I've applied for a bit of class A-1 myself. Less than 2 hours to go!

That’s good news for the issuer. The best outcome for the issuer is to offer the security so it just barely clears the market — that it’s priced just barely low enough (yield just barely high enough) to raise the desired capital amount. If the security is too attractive (mispriced) then they’ve left money on the table.

It’s a little more complicated than that for an issuer that wants to go back to the capital market periodically, but that’s the basic idea.

Except the order book actually influences pricing. The final yield would be lower (good for issuer) if this was 7X subscribed instead of 2.6X.

unless you bid more than 50k, you do not have to check. the balloting ratio would have been announced before the numbers appear in your cdb
explain why more than 50k then need to check...
are you assuming that below 50K all get 100%?
