But some of us prefer to have fixed maturity dated bonds…..js hold to maturity get back our principle regardless of prevailing market interest rate
Yes, for particular spending goals a few months or years from now. And that'll happen if the bond doesn't default. Which is why low risk Singapore Savings Bonds and other Singapore Government Securities exist in denominations as low as S$500. And insured fixed deposits and other vehicles.

I think the retail market is speaking and has spoken. There's just not much of a market for retail sized corporate bonds in Singapore. I don't think there's even much of a retail corporate bond market in the United States, the world's largest capital market with tons of retail support. People who want to save for a new washing machine in 6 months, or to repair their home's roof within a couple years, just don't want to run any material risk that their bond blows up and certainly don't want to spend the time and effort trying to understand the bond's risk profile. When retail investors want to assume some risk they do so with a longer time horizon (such as retirement) and with diversification (holding a basket of bonds). "Big whales" operate differently, of course.

Also, it's rather expensive to issue and to service a retail bond.

I think it all makes logical sense, really. It's probably a sign of a maturing retail investment market.

I used DBS Online. 0.18% commission is the lowest i can find!
I haven't sold usd shares in many years. dbsvickers prompted me to open a multi currency account. do you know if I need it to get the sales proceeds back to my dbs bank account in a cost effective way?

Oh, I really disagree with you. So do investors, who are generally not so naive. Just look at the yield!
weren't sia's bonds before covid (where they hid their rating and sold on the basis of their brand value) and hyflux perps fully taken up by singapore investors?

I was comparing Astrea 7 & 8.

Looks to me that Astrea 8 is over appreciated and will come down.
