Hi skyperkane,

Is WiFi 6 a big requirement for you in the next 2 years? If you do not see yourself upgrading to WiFi 6 anytime soon, I would recommend the ZenWiFi CT8 for extensive coverage. RT-AX88U is a powerful router on its own, not just in terms of coverage but also features. If you do not need the features such as VPN configuration, QoS, you are free to deploy it as an AP.

Ohhhh. Understand. Would you recommend the ZenWiFi CT8 or the RT-AX88U placed in the center of the house as a WAP then i get another cheaper router to be placed in the DB box together with the TP and ONT?

Zenwifi CT8 No Wifi after awhile

I've just bought my Zenwifi CT8 (2pk) and managed to install them and working well.
However, I notice that after an hour or so, the wifi will be lost (router unit white led, node unit red led), then whole house no connection! Cannot do anything but off and on both unit then returns back to normal. But after a few hours again, same thing happens. Is my unit defective and needs to be exchanged for a new one?

My setup is the AC88U at the DB Box, lan cable to Lyra voice and use AiMesh
Honestly Im disappointed with Asus software.

The configuration is difficult. There is a certain step you need to follow strictly to achieve that and worse of all ALEXA cannot work.

I don't know why. The amazon account just cannot link. Sending email to and fro they tell me to go to support centre. I seriously am disappointed after owning so many Asus routers.

Gotta agree that the ASUS Router App is not the easiest and cleanest UI around. But the Web UI is one of the best as far as I'm concerned. I had no problem getting Alexa to work on my set up though, is it an account issue? What's the error that you are receiving?

Hello ASUS@SG, is the Asus RP-AC55 available locally? If not, any plans to bring them in?

The only sources I can find seem to be malaysian sellers on shopee, will have to forgo warranty right?

Basically, I'm looking for compact aimesh nodes to cover some dead spots, and the RP-AC55 seems to fit the bill. Currently with AC-88U + AC68U, aimesh via ethernet backhaul. Home is wired up for cat6.

I would just go the Lyra Trio (1 or 2 packs). At least got 3 yrs local warranty. Very stable mesh.

Or straight to ZenWiFi CT8 which has raving reviews :s12:

Hi kandinsky,

The RP-AC55 is not available locally. Like what the other bro mentioned, since you are already on AiMesh network, it is much better to get another AiMesh model to expand your network. AiMesh works on wireless backhaul too. :)

That's disappointing. I believe the RP-AC55 with the latest firmware, is indeed AiMesh compatible. Alright, will weigh my options. Thanks for the update :)

My set up is the same as above. When adding Lyra voice as a AiMesh node through ASUS router app, the setup will run and stop at 2min and state that the connection fail.

I had it hard wired. so how can the connection fail?

Any advise?

Hi kenn1st,

Are you able to add the Lyra Voice wirelessly first as a node?

Yes. I realised i need to do it wirelessly first as a node before hardwiring it. I think the manual should advise as such to give clarity.

Hi all,

I am wondering if there is a function to fix a device to a router within AiMesh. I am asking because of WiFi 6. I want to fix my WiFi 6 device to a WiFi 6 supported router to maximise the speed. My node is still based on WiFi 5.

Any expert can advise?

Glad that you got it to work. Thanks for your feedback. :)

Right now you can take advantage of the Roaming Block List feature found under Wireless setting. It's still a feature that we are looking into - so you might encounter bugs. In the future firmware release(hopefully not long), user should be able to assign the devices to the respective router/node according to user preference. :)

Hi Asus Support,

I have Lyra trio which I want to connect wirelessly to Asus GT-AC5300. I have face connectivity issue whereby the Lyra keep disconnecting. I basically didn't use the Lyra apps to set up the Lyra trio, but use the Asus router app to add as node. Is my set up wrong? Or should I connect direct to one of the lyra using lan cable and set up with Lyra apps first, then remove the cable and place the lyra elsewhere to connect wirelessly to the GT-AC5300? Another question is can I just use any of the 3 lyra to set up and then add the other 2 to the GT-AC5300?

Hi @insomnia@,

If you are looking to use all 3 as AiMesh nodes, then what you did is correct - Add them individually using the ASUS Router App/Web UI. There is no need to use Lyra App from here.
Ensure that the GT-AC5300 and Lyra Trio are all updated to the latest firmware. Our engineers are constantly improving the backhaul connectivity with feedbacks from user. If you still face issue with the connection, try moving the Lyra Trio closer to a location near the GT-AC5300. You can also submit your feedback via the Web UI so that I engineers can receive the necessary information to look into it.

Thank you!

Regards,
ASUS Singapore

I have a AC86U as main router, and setting up lyra voice as aimesh. When I logged into the asus router app, I notice lyra voice is tied down to AC86U as Aimesh and uplink type is on ethernet.
I also notice lyra voice is also under my device individually as repeater mode. Am I setting up correctly?
So is my lyra voice running on Aimesh node or in repeater mode?
