Asus Aura Sync build - need advise

Hi,

I am building cheap full RGB system using the following:
Mobo: Asus Strix h270f
CPU: i5-7500 -- +CPU stock fan (cheapo)
RAM: G-Skill TridentZ RGB 3000Mhz
GPU: Looking for Asus Strix with Aura support - so far not finding the cheap deal yet

So, I have bought Coolermaster 120 pro air balance RGB fan since it is compatible with Asus Aura, only to realize that Coolermaster RGB fan have separate RGB cable to light up its RGB. And my mobo only have one RGB header.

I was planning to have another 2-3 RGB fan with Aura Sync as well, and one LED strip. But that means, I will need to use RGB cable splitter (1 to 4). Is it safe??

Another way is to buy another RGB fans which do not need separate RGB cable. If you have any experience, kindly advise

I need PC like right now, and I already bought these components. I only a bit confuse on the RGB header related now, because asus mobo only have 1 RGB header, and I need around 4 (3 fans and 1 RGB strip).

I found RGB splitter (1 to 4), but I am afraid it will burn my mobo

For the Aura RGB header, you can get the header splitter from cooler master. Since you're looking to build an Aura Sync build, I'd recommend you to go for Aura certified peripherals to complement your system.

What should I do if I want 3 coolermaster rgb fans (2 front fans, 1 back) and one rgb strip? I will need 1 to 4 RGB header splitter for those. Will the motherboard pin able to handle such input?

But if I use this controller, will it work with aura sync? Because I want all the rgb effect to be in sync..

Wah your build

Asus Aura Sync build lol. I have such stuff I don't use it in the end. Won't sync the Trident Z if I'm you as I don't wish SPD corruption for the ram. Plus your cpu won't utilize more than 2400mhz ram speed also.

CPU cooler with Aura support, deepcool captain ex 240 RGB or ID Cooling Auraflow 240 or just a HSF like Cryorig H7 or CM Hyper 212 and pair it with a CM Masterfan RGB.

Casing would suggest CM Masterbox Lite 5 RGB or Phanteks P400 TG. Prefer the masterbox for the included RGB fans.

GPU you got no choice but Asus Strix GTX 1050 TI 4GB for the cheapest Aura Sync GPU (sadly only logo illumination) or GTX 1060 6GB (3 fan setup version only, shroud and logo lights only. Backplate doesn't have lights unlike the 1070 and 1080). All have their same high tier of pricing command. So good luck with that.

Thanks for the info! I was just googling "gskill SPD corruption" and see bad news...not sure why they said it is "compatible" but in the end it broke the RAM. I will do more reading on this.

Btw I bought 3000mhz because the price different is negligible with 2400mhz. It might help if I want to upgrade in the future, as it already hit 3k mark.

I use Corsair 760t for my chasing, I already own this and for now I don't plan to change. Although CM Masterbox Lite 5 and Corsair Crystal Series 570X seems really cool.

Yeah asus strix 1060 was on sale at qoo10 few days back, for $420. I was hesitant as I believe 1070 is more future proof. The current price for 1070 was crazy though, $900+. I remember back then can grab Asus strix 1070 for only $650ish after vouchers.
Thinking to buy from amazon, which is like $680-700..but for now I can survive without GPU.

I basically have bought the basic component (mobo, cpu, ram), now I try to figure out how do I use RGB headers for 4 items (3 fans and 1 RGB strip).

Do you use RGB strips and fans for your build back then?

Hello giant_ice,

The controller will not work since it runs its own CM software. Let me find out for you if the splitter can be daisy chained to support more fans and led strips.

My fans are Corsair SP120 RGB that a bro gave me. Initially thinking rgb sync the fan, or NZXT Aer with Hue+ and Kraken, then have funding issue. So now stick with the SP120 RGB with hardware controller lol

Also have some Silverstone RGB strips, some of the led spoil, so I end up removing those. But the sp120 is bring enough to be ambience so i leave it as it is. Everything else with Aura run default rainbow breathing mode.
