I'm building a PC for my friend who prefers overpriced ASUS mobo.

ASUS B560M-A
Intel i7 11700
Intel stock cooler
Kingston DDR4 2666mhz 1x8GB
Coolermaster MWE 500W V2 FM Gold

I tried booting the computer with bare minimum but fail to receive any display signal using intel integrated graphic.
Only connected 8pin CPU, 24pin mobo, HDMI cable, 4pin CPU fan header.
1x8GB Kingston ram is installed at 4th ram slot.
When i jump the power switch, CPU and PSU fan spins but monitor fail to receive any display signal (HDMI).
Paper clip test the power supply, no issue, PSU fan spin.
Checked CPU socket pin seems to be good before i insert the CPU.

There are two HDMI port on the mobo so i tried to swapped them but same, no display signal from both port.
I tried using my laptop to double check on my HDMI cable and monitor, both are able to receive display signal from laptop. I tried using my TV as well, same, PC no signal, laptop have signal.

When I jump the power switch, I notice this orange LED light up (No blinking).
I rarely use ASUS mobo so not sure what does it mean? Any experience ASUS builder can clarify?

DRAM problem. Since you only have 1 stick of RAM, try the following steps in sequence:

- take out and put it back again
- install a different stick in the same slot
- shift the same stick to a different slot

If all fails then replace the RAM stick

P.s. in your photo can clearly see the labels for the 4 LED from top to bottom, Boot, VGA, DRAM, CPU. It is the DRAM LED that is lit up.

Weird, motherboard manual recommended 4th slot for 1 ram stick and 2nd+4th ram slot for 2 ram stick which is what i followed but both are not working.

End up i'm able to receive signal if i install 1st and 2nd ram slot.

Sometimes individual motherboard have their own issues.

Glad you managed to solve it!

Usually for most motherboards you install ram in 2nd+4th slot for dual channel. If installed in 1st+2nd might be running in single channel mode only, which u can check with CPU-Z. Which I suspect is the case since your manual specifically said slots A2 + B2 for dual channel. You can go by color on your motherboard model as well, for 2 ram sticks, install it at the grey colored slot. If it doesn't work then i'm guessing slot B2 spoiled, you can check by installing only 1 stick at slot B2 only (4th slot).

Running in single channel memory can have significant performance loss, so you can choose to rma if its really spoiled or if you don't mind then eat the perf loss.

Is your RAM used one or second hand?
DRAM fault usually is RAM than motherboard so if the RAM is brought locally.
Suggest RMA/Service them at Convergent.

Most motherboard RAM placement starts at 2nd + 4th slot, you can use slot 1
but that is not the recommended setting unless you want to populate with all four sticks of RAM.
Take note Core i7 11700 support DDR4-3200, down the road you can consider
upgrading to DDR4-3200.
