Can check out the US retailer
GenTech PC - Systems

Xoticpc
Excalibur
Powernotebooks.com

They do deliver to Singapore, and the laptop comes with 1 or 2 years Global Warranty.

First one says availability 10/14 May, powernotebooks "mid May". Add to that delivery time (and cost!), it may well be available in Singapore regularly by the time it arrives here.

Even though it pains me to say, since Diablo 3 comes out 15 May... but may have to wait a bit ;-)

ok, some addition to this... supposedly, the laptop is supposed to arrive "next week", according to Newstead. (I tried Challenger as well, but the person on the phone was just rude when I asked, didn't know anything, and hung up on me.)

No solid date though, unfortunately. Btw, the G55 is already visible on ASUS NZ and MY websites, but not yet the SG one.

Which country are you in that you got it?

Here in SG, should be coming very soon... this week (i.e., by 1/2 June). If I just knew which day... will check in Funan today, will be in that area anyways.

Oh yeah, and I am also banking for the non-3D version... I find 3D on a laptop gimmicky at best, looking like a dork sitting on the couch with glasses on staring on the laptop :p Nevermind that the 3D resolution is not too high, while on 2D I get full HD.

Ok, checked again yday... no G55 just yet, something about shipment delays. Now, best thing is to wait for PC show starting 7 June ;-) The salesman could only guess, but should be coming in first half of June. (Since it's out in other countries already - grr!

They were selling the G53 cheap, salesman was quoting me $2K at Newstead. But when I called again today, they said they have only 3D models - which have inferior 1366x768 resolution only, instead of Full HD (that inferior resolution called 3DHD - what a euphemism!).

But, for all bargain hunters out there, can pay off to just get the G53, now while they are trying to get rid of their stock ;-)

Just saw on the previous issues of newspaper Digital Life doing a summary review of the Asus G55, pricing is $2.7k if i am correct. Hope to see this in the upcoming IT Fair in early June. Anybody has any concrete ideas it will be in the it fair ? any promos..etc?

It's much cheaper if you buy online. XoticPC sells them for around 1300USD, should be cheaper even with shipping than if you buy from Asus locally, and the warranty can be used in Singapore also. Last time I bought my G53 from them and saved quite a bit :D

Just to help everyone here on the clarifications.

G55 and G75 will not be out till end of June or early July.
We just got confirmation from Asus. It will not be launched in the show. :)

G53 is i5-2450/15.6" HD/GTX560 selling at $1698. Not selling at $1998.

Indicative pricing for G55 is $2698, G75 is $2998. Not confirmed yet though. :)

If you like to know more, can pm me for latest info.

Cheers

Was visiting KL last Saturday and ended up buying a G55 -- dirt cheap!

Unfortunately, the Full HD (which I wanted) was out of stock :( all vendors in Low Yat were out of stock of the cheaper version -- apparently it's very very popular. They're not sure when the next deliveries will come -- some were saying by end of this week, some were saying end of the month.

In the end I bit the bullet and settled for the lower-res 3D version which was 25% more expensive.

Difference in configuration in Malaysia is as follows.

120hz glossy 3D screen at 1366x768 (vs 1920x1080 matte screen) <-- biggest turn-off!
8GB 1600mhz RAM (vs 4GB for the cheaper G55)
Blu-ray DVDRW (vs DVDRW for the cheaper G55)

Both use the new Ivy Bridge i7-3610QM and the NVIDIA Kepler GTX660M (w 2GB VRAM). Freebies included gaming mouse, gaming backpack, 3D glasses, and gaming headphones.

Even if the 3D version was 25% more expensive, it was still very cheap compared to what I've read below... :s11: Diablo 3 in 3D is a cool gimmick, but the glossy screen is annoying for non-3D gaming. But seeing the prices below I'm glad I bit the bullet.

Also, the G75 wasn't available yet -- only the older G74. G55 non-3D + 25% = G55 3D, G55 non-3D + 50% = G74

My ASUS G75VW-RS72 just got shipped out from Gentechpc. Most of the US online Store just shipped the 1st shipment for this model. ETA for new order shipment will be in mid June. I ordered on 29 Apr but shipment was delayed due to the thunderbolt port issue( delay on intel side)

Just received my G75 on 13 June, have pay 7%GST to SG Custom b4 I can collect it. Been playing around with it past few days, installed my recent purchased crucial M4 SSD to act as my OS drive & did a clean install of WIN 7 to get rid of all the factory installed bloatwares. It's a very quiet laptop, hard even hear the fan noise when I am running diablo III. I m very satisfied with my purchase.
