My laptop is reaching its 4 year mark in a couple of months and now during games the screen goes black. I can still hear the game sound but just no display. Moving the laptop vigorously brings the display back for a bit before it goes off. Taping my laptop's palm rest also seems to bring it back before it goes black again. I have to tap it continuously until the display come back. This happens only during games.

Is my gpu nearing is end or is it dislodged or something?

It's already 4 years old. If I were you, I would open it up to see if there's any loose connectors or ribbons. I would also reapply the thermal paste on cpu and gpu. And clean out all the dust trapped inside.
Can have a look at this link: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Reapplying+Asus+G73+CPU+and+GPU+Thermal+Paste/4826

Are you able to display on external monitor? If yes, then LCD or LCD cable loose.
If not, then it is likely graphics card failure.
