Asus H170M-E D3 RAID Question

Window 10 control panel > Storage space. Play around inside.

On Page 2-13. Understand this board can create software RAID.

My question is can i create RAID with just 2 HDD of 4 TB Each? and the other free SATA Port for DVD RW Drive and another HDD?
Becos the mode need to switch from AHCI to Raid
And M2 drive can still act as my OS Drive?

Before you begin, which raid system do you wish to deploy ?

While your board support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10, you can only do raid 0 or 1 with 2 hdds.

Raid 1 Lor with 2 hdd...

i just bot a 2nd hdd....4TB so i have 2 x 4TB...

the existing one i using already. do i need to wipe both drive for creation of array ? so means my existing partition better backup first?

correct me if I am wrong... dun think this option includes the entire Windows 10 OS which TS is aiming to achieve via RAID 1.

Almost all RAID solutions format your drives before building the array, so better backup your data first.

i have create the storage space using 2 drive.

so if one day i need to reformat the os drive...willl all data gone? or just reload back win 10 from scratch it will be able to read the drive info and RAID Level is using?

got another question

since i got a PCI Slot empty so i go liexpress buy a sata card.

i can boot up normal without pluging in my drive into the card.

current boot up is set to m2 storage as os in there. bios set there a default

when i plug in one hdd 500gb drive . it will show on sata card it can detect the drive but when switch back to board bios it will stuck on screen with no hard disk acitivity

i believe the card overwrite the boot order am i right to the board?

anyway to point to my m2 drive as boot up drive? i just want this card to detect as a storage drive .

Under motherboard BIOS set the default boot drive.

Please don't use the MOBO one.
If MOBO spoil = RAID GG.
Only advantage of using MOBO one is if you Dual Boot then u need it to maintain the RAID Settings.

2x HDD can RAID 1 or RAID 0
3x HDD can RAID 0
M.2 can still be stand alone HDD.

no choice lah...the card is sata 1 PCI Slot not Sata 3 kind ...

my pcie slot all take up liao
