This looks like a good budget tablet with quad core, extendable memory and HD display..

Anyone knows when will this be released in Singapore?

Probably August, from the stuff I read on the net (and the URL I pasted below). And to be honest, it looks like a good tablet with decent specs, going at $149 USD for the 16 GB version, and $129 for the 8 GB version. It's about $190 SGD for the 16 GB version & $160 for the 8 GB version, so the price is really attractive.:
ASUS MeMo Pad HD 7 gets August release date

As much as I like this tablet, Asus is also releasing a 10 inch tablet called the Asus Memo Pad FHD 10 which I'm more interested in because of its size. It's quite a mouthful, but it looks good. Sadly, the price hasn't been announced yet... (Should be below $500 USD) Here's an article and youtube video:

But the 10.1 inch uses an Intel Atom chip... so battery life, not sure it will hold up and also wonder if it's powerful enough, like the Qualcomm chip...

Hmm, I did read up about that too but I'm not so worried. According to Intel's web page for the Intel Atom Chip:
Intel® Atom? Processor
It is supposed to have "great battery life" as follows in this statement:
"Energy efficiency is enabled by incredibly low power, resulting in great battery life for smartphones and tablets and scaling performance from 800MHz to 2GHz.

And the article URL I pasted in my previous post mentioned, " the device achieved 10 hours of HD video playback on YouTube, with WiFi on and 50% brightness. You can also achieve 5 hours of straight gaming, if you want, so the battery is very good".:
ASUS MeMo Pad FHD 10 Review (Android 4.2.2, Full HD, SonicMaster) - Tablet-News.com | Tablet News

So from this, I can assume the battery life is pretty good.

As for performance, if you take a look at the URL I pasted just above, it mentions that its performance surpasses the Nexus 10 & Transformer Prime in various benchmarks. So I'm guessing its performance should be pretty good. :s13::s12:

I'm not so prepared to believe Intel regarding their battery life... hahaha... their ultrabooks haven't had stellar battery life... and that's what Intel promised from the start...

And the review said nothing about testing of battery life... so I wonder how they arrive at 10 hours or they simply quoted ASUS... :(

I don't mean to be rude, but can you read the review again, and find this sentence: "In our tests, the device achieved 10 hours of HD video playback on YouTube, with WiFi on and 50% brightness. You can also achieve 5 hours of straight gaming, if you want, so the battery is very good.".

They indeed did test the battery life. Here's the article::D

Had a chance to test one out over the last weekend, here's my short impression of it

- general usage is very smooth, practically lag free.
- Display is bright and sharp, no complaints at all
- Sound is loud, still can hear music despite the place being noisy
- RAM is only 1GB, but actual free RAM is ~600MB with bloatware. if clear bloatware can free up some more
- Built quality is top notch. doesn't feel cheap at all.
- Camera quality (rear cam) is decent. has good lighting.

Anyone who has read my earlier posts will know what i think of Asus's pricing in Singapore. The Acer A1 (US$160) sells at S$249. I am very sure that the US$149 Asus will be selling ABOVE the Acer A1 price. If i had to guess, i think the Asus RRP will be S$269

Damn, that sucks.. in this case it would be better to order from online rather than wait for it to be released in Singapore

What a bummer... Read online that it costs only $99 USD on Amazon. Super cheap.

Any restrictions to buying it from Amazon? VPost could work I suppose? I guess even after the freight cost it would still be worth it?

Where is this US$99 Memo Pad HD 7 in Amazon? If you search for "Memo pad hd 7" in Amazon, some of those results are the older Memo pad 172V. I know, Asus should really improve their naming convention.
