Had the same prob too. Can't restart phone for no apparent reason. Was told it was an MB issue. Today is the 5th day and have contacted the SC twice to check on status but no one has reverted. Haiz... Seems like gonna be a long wait...

I collected my phone liao (after 5 working days)... all data wiped out and now I'm back to square one. Will be updating to the new firmware first before I install my apps.

Hopefully no more issues coz I surely missed the phone..

i decided to stick with it due to convenience...


probably will upgrade to WWE when the need arises.. XD

hopefully it doesn't brick or come up with any MB issues....

Hi, can i ask, any of u rooted ur padfone 2?
And if i flash any custom ROM to the phone, the padstation mode will not work? cus it will only work for the stock asus ROM right?

seems like mine is a motherboard brick case too.. phone just went dead suddenly and refuse to start up.. good game man..

Hi guys, i notice that on ASUS support website, there is a file call PadFone 2 Kernel Code for Android 4.1 JB OS (V10.4.12.24),
Do we need to update that one?
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download PadFone 2
under source code.

I'm very keen in getting this phone, but currently on singtel plan.
Does it work with singtel? Or is it locked with starhub?
My plan is ending in 6 months, I think there is some penalty if I break the contract, and also I need to keep the number.

Then, does this phone break easily? The last pages got a lot of people cannot on the phone

Also you can number port but really, jumping to over to Starhub, is the dumbest move anyone can make unless they are on a Hubber plan. So what you can do is sign a Singtel contract, sell the phone, go buy Padfone 2 without a line. Roughly there.

And if you ask this phone break easily, chances are those that have problem will post around but those working fine will not bother. There's always this chance. That one is YMMV.

Do not touch the kernel source code unless you know what you are doing..

The kernel source code must be released due to GPL license that the Android kernel is using (linux kernel).


That source file just contains all the source code for the kernel and it is for people who wants to modify their own kernel. (obviously you need root)

And you can't just install it like that, you have to compile the source code and flash over your phone.


Stay away from it if you don't even know what is the kernel source code in the first place

Yap. Collected last Friday.. Now new problem came up and this is one hell of a irritating problem.. Vibration just refused to stop EVEN after i switched OFF the phone!!! And now I will need to fork out time just to go down to the service centre again.. ZZZzzzZZzzz..

Anyone has issues with the screen protector for the phone being scratched after being docked?

Currently I'm using the clear sp from Starhub and there are a lot of scratches, so I just gotten the matt sp from overseas..

I have a few extra pieces, so do let me know if any of you guys need one

Padfone 2 scrolling issue

I have been facing this scrolling issue on padfone 2.
When surfing the net on padfone 2 station using any browser, and simply scroll up and down the page with one finger, the scrolling does not work well, instead it keeps zooming in and out which is not what I intended.

Did not have this issue originally on android ver 4.0, it started to happen after I upgraded to 4.1. Anyone face this issue? Any resolution? Thanks.
