Fone died

Jus back from Asus Service centre this morning.

My padfone die on me yesterday it suddenly hanged and when do restart.. it struck at logo screen...after a few try... the phone cannot start at all...

At service centre... they ask me to acknowledge that all data will be lost... Cos the memory is embedded on the MB...

1st - they make me feel that its mine fault for not backing up my data.

2nd - I find that their design sucks big time like Iphone... how are we to expect that the phone will totally die off... Asus shld have design the phone like the rest of Android phone.. comes with mircoSD slot for our data...

damn stupid design dun the rest think so too?

Err ... sorry to say this but not backing up your own data isn't Asus's fault.

Well, this is a correct fact.

However, truth is, they shouldn't make you feel that it's your fault.

(honestly, not backing up data isn't anybody's "fault". it's called a "risk")

2nd - I find that their design sucks big time like Iphone... how are we to expect that the phone will totally die off... Asus shld have design the phone like the rest of Android phone.. comes with mircoSD slot for our data...

Here, unfortunately... I would have to disagree...
Personally, I don't mind no having a micro sim slot... although a feature I do prefer is replaceable batteries.

My guess of their reasoning, is probably the need to minimize moving parts as to optimize built for docking mechanism etc...

But opinions/reasons aside, I was well informed and was knowledgeable of both specifications before I made my purchase.

Simply put:
The specs wasn't a big secret.
If you don't like the design, you can always buy one that fits you.


If you care:
I just got my phone from the service centre yesterday.
MB changed, data wiped.

- point: well... data is gone.

+ points:
> contacts are stored on google
> a lot of other things are on cloud
> 90% of my apps list are stored by google, i just needed to redownload them
> a good time to do spring cleaning
> finally installed WWE!! (might as well right?)
> Hey, a new MB... that's really not bad..

overall I'm quite happy customizing and rebuilding my launcher etc...
still haven't put back my ringtones...
A bit like a new phone experience without the starhub clutters. ^_^

Good morning there! So I've jumped ship from the Note 2.
And got the phone two days ago. Been noticing that the battery is running down low quite fast. Anyway, I've read that many of you changed the MB, so is it advisable for me to change too? And how long would the process take?

The standard reply you will get from the service centre is around 5 working days..

Hmm.. what do you mean when u say apps are stored by google.

Btw so the cracking sound during voice call is normal ?

Google will keep track a list of apps you installed/purchased and you can always re-download them easily if there's a need to without racking your brain trying to recall what apps you were using before.

Hmm.. is it by default that google keep track of those apps? Can't seem to find it under google play.

Can more guys verify the cracking sound when making voice call? A fellow mention earlier he got the same problem.. want to cfm before making a trip down to service center. Thanks!

You have to login first, then click on "MY ANDROID APPS" and a list of downloaded/installed/purchased apps should appear.

I don't know about others but I have never face this issue before

app data will still be gone after a wipe.. not all apps have cloud storage, especially offline games..

Hi, anyone on starhub fw and having their whatsapp, twitter, facebook notifications come late even if you have set keep wifi on during sleep to always ? Even on mobile data, those notifications came late for me. Im using starhub carrier

Did you activate smart battery saving?

If yes, there are 2 options,
1) Asus optimized mode
2) Power saving by scenario

choose power saving by scenario and click on the settings

scroll down all the way to the bottom and untick the last one, which is IM and other apps using push notification

Thanks for the reply. Err, i switched off my power saving. Maybe i should turn it on and see if it helps. Hahaha

I feel you. Also lost my photos and data when this lousy padfone just died for no reason. In the future I won't get any andriod phone without external card. And of course to siam far far from asus phone. Lesson learnt. For iphone, at least backup and restoring is easy. Just plug in itune, press one button and everything is backup.

And of course to siam far far from asus phone. Lesson learnt. For iphone, at least backup and restoring is easy. Just plug in itune, press one button and everything is backup.

Asus padfone 2 got Asus Pad PC Suite bro .. can try that one.
