I have had the luxury of loaning the ASUS ROG PG258Q Monitor for a few weeks. Setting up the monitor was a breeze and in matter of minutes, I was ready to game. I wanted to see if 240hz was a perceivable upgrade to my games over the current 144hz monitor that I use.
Coming from an IPS monitor - The first thing that I noticed was the colors that indeed seem alittle washed out much like most sites/reviews would have already mentioned so that was a given. I fired up some of the e-sport titles that I usually play, namely CS:GO and Overwatch and I am immediately able to notice how much clearer the motion became especially when there is alot of fast/hectic motion happening all around. Tracking targets was so much easier and at this point, the colors didn't really bother me anymore because of how everything in game felt so much more fluid.
This could be a placebo but I feel like I am able to perform better and hit shots that I normally wouldn't be able to with the this monitor. I would highly recommend this monitor for it's sleek looking 'borderless' design and if you mainly play competitive FPS titles. The high refresh is a game changer and you'd absolutely have to actually try one to believe it!
Thanks again to ASUS@SG for loaning the PG258Q for the trial- Upon returning to a 144hz monitor, I m already starting to miss the high refresh panel and the extremely fluid gaming experience that the PG258Q provided me with.
