Not really.. in real performance I heard it perform badly...


I tried read through a few forum and they said its slower than Samsung 840 pro series.

Its a Sandforce based SSD.

The long term standing's that the SSD ODMs (including Intel+Micron JV, Samsung, Sandisk+Toshiba JV) have better firmware validation and binning advantages for the NAND. Current consumer PCIE SSDs have very mixed reviews.

Interesting to see how it'll turn out but overall, it doesn't cater to the mainstream segment.

Hi, any reviews on this Asus RAIDR Express SSD ?

I've been wanting to upgrade my Samsung 840 Pro for some time now.
However, none of the latest/current gen SSDs seem to be a worthy upgrade...

At this point in time, doubt there will be a real upgrade over the highest end SSD, until the new SATA Express is out. Noticed that most SSDs are already bottleneck by SATA3. If you need a faster solution, you can consider running RAID, which is what this Asus PCI-E SSD is about anyway, In fact, it might even be better in value running say a pair of 840Pro in RAID.

Anyway, Samsung 840 Pro remains as the premium product while 840 Evo will be mainstream. Don't you know 840 pro users will get magician 4.2 with the RAM caching support? It'll definitely boost disk performance without a need to upgrade.
