To all members, I was considering to get Asus laptop but after reading such details, confidence drop 50%. Care to comments thanks.

accidental damage void the entire warranty doesn't make sense lei should at least cover the other parts that isn't damaged from the accidental.

My macbook drop.. they won't void my warranty...Better avoid asus and choose other brand

Actually I find that based on TS experience, Asus is not being professional

1. With such a high quote for repair, they should have went directly into informing TS that's it's beyond economical repair, and suggesting a replacement set instead @ a discount

2. Giving wrong information without further verification / not being aware of the products that they are selling

3. The email being sent by the manager reeks of self pompous.
A person who is tactile would have said that they would have escalated it for further review (even if it's a white lie). It's about the feel good factor

4. So far, the only one that handled it professionally out of this whole fiasco is PC dreams

A little English lesson on use of the English Language, below is the meaning of REVERT:

verb: revert; 3rd person present: reverts; past tense: reverted; past
participle: reverted; gerund or present participle: reverting

1. return to (a previous state, practice, topic, etc.).
"he reverted to his native language"
synonyms:

I did not insult but the word "revert" is wrongly used.

As customer service, they should be much more polished in their use of language.

In the sense of a frustrated customer, do not add fuel and fire to that frustration....

They did quote for a replacement but the reason was not acceptable.

They claim they are doing me a favour cos I bought a refurbished set not covered by warranty.

After admitting to the mistake, they should offer a further discount but she stick to her guns and say no 2 ways.

The worst is I told her I want an option to purchase other laptop and she say I can only buy back the same set.....

This is what fuels the anger and frustration.

Generally American brands are much better in Customer Service though a little pricier at times but guess more worth it...

At least they will not quote cut-throat prices....

I remember once I sent a dell laptop for repair after a hard-disk crash, they repaired it and on the receipt was the price of the parts used. As compared to market price, about 20 to 30% higher.

Cost of historical inventory .....acceptable ....

Cost of mass production assembly vs
cost of pre-production individual assembly parts (ASUS)
HIGHLY unacceptable
