I USED to HATE the ROG ALLY!

NOW I LOVE IT!

Here are a few steps I took to make it what it should have been out of the box. If this is redundant to the group, I'm sorry, but it may save someone from returning and instead enjoying it like I am now.

The Ally is EXTREMELY poorly set up from a software perspective. It has all the juice in the world but no way to use it out of the box. I did a few things to get the most out of it.

1. Go to the Windows update setting many times in a row until no more updates are available.

2. Register with the MyAsus app and download all available updates.

3. Go into the AMD Software app and update all drivers there

4. Go into Armory Crate and update all settings there ( Also appears they released something today the fixed the crackling speakers )

5. Go into BIOS or VRAM setting in Armory Crate and set this feature to AUTO (HUGE IMPROVEMENT IN GAMES!)

6. Go into windows features and turn off Virtual Machine platform then search core isolation in windows and turn that off as well. (10-20 FPS boosts)

7. You will need to play around with ALOT of settings in games to find a sweet spot. ( I have been searching online key phrases like... Best settings for Hogwarts Legacy, Call of Duty Warzone etc, on ROG ALLY )

Hope this helps someone

*******EDIT********. When you turn off core isolation and virtual machine platform it will force you to reset your pin when you log back in. You’ll have to click reset pin twice and then it will go. It will also delete your finger print info so you’ll have to go to windows search bar and search finger print and simply reset it.
Nice, I will try that out. I have also ran Windows Debloater to remove unnecessary services. Do make sure you don't remove xbox and windows gamebar if you want to claim the free 3 months Xbox Gamepass.

I don't want to carry that long 3 pin plug to C5 cable so got this head from Aliexpress a while back. It fits perfectly and now the 65W Powerbrick is a Wallplug!

Hmmm very interesting...after updating windows first (BIOS updated through there), then myasus, then I checked the VMP and Core Isolation and found both disabled already by default

Hi, to redeem the Rog Ally's case from the roadshow, just need to show them pre order purchase? Pre ordered mine on 28th June though the website said that the case redemption has ended.

So ASUS have released a statement regarding performance and what we should expect.

They used the Cyberpunk benchmark...

Medium settings
1080p
Auto FSR
Turbo mode but system unplugged (25watt)

And the expected result should be around 39.95 FPS
Anything drastically under that and you should contact ASUS.

Any link/URL for this?

Yeah, the Free ROG Ally case has been fully redeemed so sadly, you can't redeem it anymore. If you pre-order from Asus, you should receive the case together with the Ally. If you pre-order from other official resellers, you had to register for redemption with your receipt. But all was redeemed very early on.

A production sticker from the Factory was left inside my friend's Ally... And even screwed through. With this kind of QC, no wonder so many units have problems... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

QC is normally sample of the lot or batch. It will be too time consuming to QC every unit.
I guess they were rushing with so many pre orders.

Anybody who received their units over the last few days have issues? Mine good so far though I haven't done any intense gaming on it. Thinking of holding on for a few more days before applying screen protector & upgrade SSD if all is good!
