Well, will try the older BIOS later. If it still doesn't work it's time for MSI

Well they did mention usage of USB flash or something... and then it came alive... :look:

USB flashback. Its a feature where you use the flashback port, insert a thumbdrive containing the BIOS named in the following manner and use the flashback button, may take minutes.

example:
-M8H.CAP (Maximus VIII Hero)

This might resolve soft bricks. However if there is a hardware failure then flashback will not fix it. This is probably the last sanity check that can be done apart from temporarily removing CMOS.
