Anyone knows what the normal temps for i7-7700HQ? It seems like mine is running too hot. 20mins into game would hit like 90c already.

Any solutions?

Running this hottie with a CM Storm SF-17 cooler. All fans set at 100%

i looked up that model on notebookcheck

yes the CPU does run hot and its actually the normal and expected behaviour. if you see the review on the Stress Test portion, it hits 90 on the cpu for witcher 3

they have a photo of the notebook with the back panel off and its not surprising. The CPU and GPU each have their own fan but theres only 2 heat pipes. The review even compares it to the MSI GT72 to show the sheer difference in cooling capability.

it is not surprising that the strix, being a budget line, has this kind of cut corners. Even on high end gaming laptops, CPUs already tend to run hot. Unlike nvidia who has made huge architecture strides in thermal efficiency. Intel has stagnated in their high end segment.

Wow thanks chiaRH for your inputs.

I had done a quick stress test on CPU and GPU seems like they are just fine on the temps like what all other reviewers had reported.

CPU highest 80c+ on 1 hour test Prime95 and GPU stays stable at 72c on furmark

Think thats should be the norm. Maybe its just that particular game I am playing (Rust) is too power hungry

:)
