Hello,

Recently, my ASUS mesh system will suddenly become no network and it happens once per day. When I check on both Modem and wifi router, there isn’t any error indication at all.
What I did was to switch off all power then switch on again after a minute later.

Anybody know what happen?
Is it my mesh system defective?

Many thanks in advance.

RT-AX92U is a half baked mesh solution from Asus. You may want to contact Asus for help.

By itself it seems to be a good router but the mesh may not be good.

But it is said with latest FW and AImesh 2.0, the performance may be better now. Have you upgraded the FW?

Does the issue only happen to the mesh node or both nodes?

You may want to switch off the mesh node to see if it gets better.

But all in all, you may want to contact Asus for help. It might be HW stability issue as well. Asus is not so famous for HW quality either (FW stability issues also exist for Zenwifi XT8 and Asus RT-AX88U).

Not sure if 1 or both nodes, because when it is “no network”, both nodes which wireless connected will not have data send to computer/handphone.

Mine still within 3 years warranty, may have to bring to their distributor for warranty exchange?

Popular ones like RT-AX86U and RT-AX82U have basically no issues, similarly for previous models like RT-AC86U.

There are also few problems reported for RT-AX55/AX56U/AX58U.

More problems reported here are related to Zenwifi XT8 and RT-AX88U, but still much better than the old RT-AC88U and RT-AC87U.

As for RT-AX92U, I would venture to say it is a failed product from Asus as a mesh solution.

If it only happens once a day, just do a scheduled daily reboot from within router settings.
And you also need to check if your network has double NAT.

Did you do a reset of the main router and nodes after upgraded firmware, and start re-configuring all over again ?
No, I did not as I not yet has time to study how to re-configure after reset.

Asus app does not give you much power in controlling the mesh. if you have reset your router/node, then use a laptop and connect to router (wired or wirelessly, or can use phone browser to connect, not app) should be 192.168.50.1 or 192.168.1.1, then make sure in node management preferred backhaul is 1G WAN (if main to node is by wire) or 5G first (if main to node is by wireless), not auto, also uplink for node select the main router as uplink

You can try. factory reset via the webui and re-flash the fw mnually.

don't use the APP to do a FW Upgrade

After reset, I can’t find 160 Mhz. Did I miss anything that anyone can enlighten me?

Go to wireless settings and enable 160MHz?

Ref: you need to use Ethernet backhaul so that 5GHz-2 (4*4 AX 160MHz) is available to the clients.
https://dongknows.com/asus-rt-ax92u-review/

Have to go to "Advanced setting" under Wireless, then click on the "Professional" Tab, follow by change the region from "Asia Default" to "The United States", SAVE + Exit and re-ENTER. The 160Mhz selection will then appear in 5 Ghz-2 band. However, I witness a drop in bandwidth on my 2nd node.

Since 160Mhz is strictly for 5 Ghz-2 Band, that is for Wireless Backhaul only. So should I still to 160 Mhz (The United States" region or change back to "Asia Region" without 160 Mhz enable?

Besides, I noticed the RAM usage is consistently at 467 Mb used out of 512 Mb, is this normal?

You should contact Asus for help. Apparently RT-AX92U is a strange router which is quite different from my RT-AX82U so I can not help you here.

For other users who read this thread: please avoid RT-AX92U.

I think ASUS need to work on their AIMESH issue. I suspect ASUS break their AI mesh function after updaing their firmware.

Different model of router encounter different issue.

I recently went over to my friend houses to work on AImesh issue.

01 - All devices get auto disconnected from Wifi. (This means IP camera, smart speaker, laptop and phone all drop and reconnect)
