There are still some crazy speculation for the release dates.

Its seem Canada will be getting it on 8th Dec(both online and brick&mortar).

For US, some sites like to make people crazy :
http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/1/2...us-release-date-official-dec-12-online-dec-19
says the retailers will start fulfilling online orders in 12th Dec while the brick&mortar will be available by 19th, doesn't seems to be any credible source from them though, most probably just trolling...

Europe will be getting Prime in Jan.

When will we have it officially? who knows! crazy Asus like to make people wait, could be a week after US, could be a month!

Just share my experience, I have ordered Nexus One from US before, I uses vPost to have it shipped to SG. when they deliver to my house, the deliveryman collect the custom duty (tax) from me on the spot as they have paid for me in advance.

Did you remember the total charges and the time taken for the nexus one to arrive?

I was looking at the vPost site again, it will take 5-8 working days for the item to arrive after shipping payment is made. That means it could be up to 10 days before the item arrive in sg? Unless they release Prime in sg in that time frame, which is highly unlikely haha.

With vPost shipping calculator, its somewhat difficult to predict the rates correctly, since I have no idea of the actual dimension and weight, but a realistic estimate should be around 90-120(inclusive of GST). Still not too bad for getting the item early.

USD500 or SGD650 + SGD120 = SGD770 around the price in Taiwan(minus their customization, i read they have mandarin character on some parts of the device and manual)

So far most authorized retailers in US seems to have stopped taking orders, but Canada retailers are still taking stocks(and they seems to be getting it on the 8th Dec).

BTW B&H have international shipping but its not cheaper then vPost, it might be faster. I have not personally try it before, but according to their site, they dispatch using UPS and item should arrive by 3-5 working days, compared to vPost where the package is delivered to vPost USA and then delivered within 5-8 working days.

sorry, cant really remember very well, think it's around $30+ and like wat stated by vPost, it takes about a week to arrive.

most US online retailer can't says for sure when the stock will arrive, given the strong demand, by the time it arrive at our door step, it could be around end December. by then SG retailer might have already started selling it. I might just wait for it to buy locally if the price is alright, you will get local/international warranty just in case...

btw, according to a staff at Newstead, the Prime will only arrive in Jan, but I'm hoping it to come earlier :) so that I can buy myself this Christmas present..haha...if not, just wait till Jan lo, bo bian...

Yup, agree. the Asus is better, with microSD and mini HDMI port build-in, the galaxy tab has nothing to beat.

check with you, how is the video capability of your TF101? can it play AVI, MKV and RMVB?

haha, I quite like Samsung, they are putting up a good fight against Apple with their smartphones and tablets, before Asus Prime came along, I think Galaxy Tab10.1 was more or less the best Android representative that can put up some fight to Ipad 2, at least in terms of design. But now the real king is here!

i think samsung was too interested to know the design of Apple..and fighting to outwit it..(thickness, weight size etc). however, they will lose their market standing..
remember when Tf101 was out in SGP...it sold like hot cake and was the best selling unit for months..(out sell iconia, Xoom then)
it is about market penetration...

i believe Prime will brings out a new market..esp if have superb games to show its ability

frankly, the galaxy tab10.1 was my first choice Android tablet previously, but the lack of microSD slot and waiting endlessly for the Wifi-only version to reach SG is torturing while other places have already got it for more than half-a-yr ago.

and when it finally arrives somewhere in Oct/Nov I think, it feels old and not to mention yet another wait for ICS update to come, so, I figured, getting a newer tablet with promised ICS update in Jan is a better choice.

cool, how about AVI with Xvid/Divx encoding?

and have you tried playing those files off from a network folder in your LAN? or a network share from a computer?

Same here, I was looking very closely at the Tab10.1 but it couldn't convince me. The design was great but everything else was not really outstanding, the lack of memory expansion seems like a step back for an Android device..

I just placed my pre-order for Aus Transformer Prime at J&R: Electronics, Digital Cameras, Computers, Appliances, Software, Video Games, DVDs, CDs .. Check this out: JR.com: ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime 32GB 10.1" IPS+ Touch Panel Android Tablet - Grey in Portable Tablet PCs.

Apparently you can check-out with Amazon.com payments.

I tried Bestbuy.com, gamespot.com, even amazon.com itself. No one even allows you to order. But I just placed the order at J&R: Electronics, Digital Cameras, Computers, Appliances, Software, Video Games, DVDs, CDs .. Shipping to my VPost address in the US.

Let's see if it works.
