Asus UX303L

Hi all,

Did not want to dig up old thread, dont wish to buy a new laptop for school as my current UX303L working fine even tho its 5y.o just the hinge is really splitting apart. I'm afraid any longer i'll have a two piece laptop

Called ASUS and tech support could only advise me to bring it down to service center for them to take a look which will cost $60 for diagnose if i proceed with repair they'll waive it off. Tech support could not provide price and part availability of the hinges.

Anyone have experience fixing it elsewhere or at ASUS?

Same pc as mine. Hopefully is the the plastic casing internal crack. My crack at the point of 2 hinges. Lucky is was under warranty and change FOC.

Seems it's quite a common Asus problem. My K401U also used 5 yrs and the hinge broke off the grommets on the lid.

SLS took a look and quoted me $200-300 to change the whole lid bezel cover.

Try TaoBao for the case, hinge etc. For the case I think they call A,B,C depending top or base.
ASUS is never a good pick after my experience with UX303. 3 visits to them during the 2 years warranty. All case related issue. Before you show the service rep on problem are, they already know where it need to repair. Seen they are very experience with it.

Good suggestion. But second link A housing means top LCD cover. My guess is high chance is hinges and base.
By the way, keyboard is permanently attached to base. So if you need to change the base (eg plastic broken). You have to remove all loguc board, cables and battery to change it.

This is where I gotta the base.

You are holding the same Asus model as me.

Change the whole Display Screen due to the back hinges broke off.

I bring it to ASUS Service center for part replacement. It last about 3 years and now I have having the same problem again.

This time will change the LCD screen again but will check the price of battery replacement too.

Wow. No wonder the shops charge 300 haha. So far I only have experiencing transplanting ThinkPad internals to another case. Wonder if UX303L will be similarly simple?

Just an update, fixed my laptop back at Asus service center. Total paid $10 for hinge + $60 for lcd cover (laptop back) + $80 service fee. Downtime about 4 days. not too bad quite happy with it.
