Hi, poly laptops are tailor-made with unique after-sales service which means you cant find any identical specs of the same model in the retail market. I am interested this model too, ample gpu and ram resources but the screen quality is a turn off which leaves me in considering between this model or lenovo ideapad 700.

ASUS - i thought screen is ok but the weight at 2.4kg is heavy .....
ideapad 700 no SSD..

Y screen turn u off? I'm also looking atbthis model

Sent from OnePlus A0001 using GAGT

Though it is FHD, i observed that the screen quality of this model with i7-4720hq configuration, has a slight yellowish tint when compared with their higher-range models. But in terms of specs, they are cool with SSD, 12gb DDR4 ram and 4GB DDR5 gpu which we mostly cant find it outside at this affordable pricing.

Do disable / uninstall this thing called Asus Splendid utility (which is a screen utility by Asus that tweaks screen colour tones) and see if the "yellowish tint" disappears :)

Cheers.

Intrinion, the tint is caused solely by that app?

I cannot rule out hardware issues either - since LCD panels can be both on a warm side and on a cool side - owing to different suppliers, manufacturing processes and batches.

However, from my usage (and from a simple google search) - the splendid utility seems to be sometimes an issue - to test it out, you can go into it and play with the different options to see if there's a change in the tint of the screen or simply just uninstall it since and see if there's a difference.

Cheers.

Thanks for your replies, guys.

I would appreciate it if anyone who has seen the laptop can comment on that issue.

Went down to Best Denki for comparison between Asus x550JK and Ideapad 700, the screen quality and display of ideapad 700 is clearer and sharper than x550JK and it have dual storage capability meaning I would need to enquire with my school vendor if they allow me to add-in additional SSD for the Ideapad 700.

*My comparision is based on the current model of x550JK, I am unsure if ASUS will release a better screen configuration( software and hardware based) for their latest poly's model.

i got this.

the laptop at this price plus all the freebies thrown in. its definitely a deal you could not find in the market.

been playing some games. but at the highest setting for online games, its definitely running very hot. hence i usually set the graphics to lowest.

the 256gb ssd, after loading windows in, will give you about 225gb left. if you got plans, best is either get a new larger ssd or just get a SD card and plug into the laptop. the good thing about the SD card reader is once your card is in, there is no chance of obstruction and worries about hitting it and dislodging it.

battery wise, its full charge will give you about 3-4hr avg, depending on how you use it.

down side is the material used for the laptop. its plastic and scratches pretty easily. the hardness or toughness of the laptop is definitely not ideal as it flex when pressed on.

whats in the ASUS box is a mouse and laptop bag.

additional stuff are headphone, 1TB external HDD and a laptop cable lock.

the HDD, is probably about 70-80sgd. Everything in is worth about 120sgd.
