Hi all,

I need advise on this ASUS model X551CA-SX330H. Notebooks & Ultrabooks - X551CA - ASUS I need a laptop for home usage, not much for gaming or work etc. Any recommendation for a laptop below $500? Thanks!

Hi!

What it takes, NEVER buy the ASUS K551LN

I bought this notebook in late May, and it broke down THREE times already!!

I have went to the service centre FOUR times for the same problem, and each time the technician claim to solve a different issue.

IMO, the technician don't even know what is wrong with the notebook to begin solving the problem.

PLEASE THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE BUYING THIS NOTEBOOK, or you will have to visit 8, burn Road very often like me!!

At this moment the notebook is still unrepairable, and the service centre offered to replace it with another one on TUE, but called me on FRI to offer a REFUND!!! But till now, no update or information on the replacement or the refund.

THE asus people cannot even get their act together.

Just a shame that ASUS creates wonderful products but their service cannot deliver on they part.

It's a "TAKE THE RISK" to BUY an ASUS for what they promise when the product is working. But when the new product keeps breaking down within a month, you will start to cry and curse!!

Sure you are unhappy with their services, but no point spamming everywhere. It does not help. People will still buy. You can't take down the whole Asus company by doing this.

As far as we know, Asus have already arranged their call centre to be in Singapore recently instead of forwarding to other countries like many company does. Give them a chance to improve. :)

Contrary to conventional wisdom, contributing to this FORUM did helped.

ASUS wrote to me today to offer a refund for their unrepairable device.

With all the facts and documents in place to commence action against substandard business practices, this is the only astute thing they did so far for my case.

I know I won't go back to a doctor who can't diagnose my problem right for three times, but if some chaps out there want to give them a chance to improve, go fall sick yourself and go through the inconvenience and stress and frustrations of the mis treatments before moving your fingers through the keyboard and play high and noble.

Trust me, whether they refund does not depend on whether you write on forums or not....

Anyway, since they have refunded you, that should be good service to you already. Why are you still posting all over the place?

If you have enter the professional work force long enough, you will understand what I mean.

Let the matter rest.

Anyway, glad that you got your refund. :)

Trust is earned, and one way through actions. Even children know that. To earn trust through letters and words is like asking a kid to trust a stranger with sweets. I do not know how to trust traders who attain commercial advantage through posting. They are challenged by a conflict of interest. Their number of posting is proportional to the commercial advantage envisaged.

Putting trust aside, lies facts and figures, which undeniably, cannot lie.

I do not understand the meaning "enter the professional work force long enough", but it is clear that what is done here is a travesty of professional work. A professional is one who does what he do best. I minded my own business and shared by truthful and factual experience. At work, I discharged my duties with dignity and integrity. Only a self proclaimed genius would pass judgement on my professionalism at work.

The wannabe life coach here may not realised that the matter at hand is one of principle. I am a consumer and I behaved like one. Any conned-sumer must know where to seek recourse, and make better judgment before they purchase.

Anyone can act and play saint and god with letter and words, but when you stripped the financial motivation off them, what remains is as good as a guess. I am just a consumer, and I play that role truthfully, with facts and figures, period.

Yes. But you are doing it with vengeance...
Look through your post, all starting your post are directed towards one single purpose and no others (since you 27 Sep). sigh...

There are many consumers or resellers who do not behave in the way described above. These consumers still get their refunds and demands, but in a more professional and amicable way. :)

If the service of a provider is not up to standard and that business does not seek to improve, they will be phase out naturally.
Since facts is mention, just like to share:
Industry statistics shows that a typical brand deals with millions of customers, with an average RMA rate of 31% across 3 years (for laptops).
See: http://www.squaretrade.com/laptop-reliability-1109/
The RMA rate is huge, though many do not realize. If a brand do not take care of their RMA customer well, many will leave and go for other brands.

Post one post, let other people know on your experience, that will do the job. Tell your friends of your experience. Many will join in if the brand does not take care of the customers. Just let the market force do the job.

Seriously, this has nothing to do with us, we should be minding our own business as well. But if what we have written here could help, it will be good. If not, it does not matter as well.

Anyway, we have digress away from the topic of TS.
So sorry to TS.

PS: You will enjoy life and sleep better with more positive feelings accumulated through the day. Don't let these negative feelings affect your day ahead! :)

i agree writing in the forum is the last resort. u have done what u could with the laptop but it's not serviceable. Having said that, these things happen with electronics and awareness should be made known, where else but in tech forums.

On the other hand, i won't go as far as to say don't buy a certain brand just bcos i had one product that suck. It's possible one gets a lemon sometimes.

More importantly, it's what the brand does to fix the problem, or compensate the customer. And i think much credit has to be given to Asus for this.

My experience with Asus service has been good so far. I would take the refund as a very nice gesture. So on the whole, thumbs up to Asus.

I can't help it if anyone enjoys slapping themselves in the face, and repeatedly. But an indulging smile sure lit up here.

As a retiree, I need less sleep than youngsters who need all the energy for their rat race. I won't offer tactless advice either. Vengeance or excitement, enjoyment or self gratification, I let the teachings of Buddha guide me, not tech traders or keyboard heroes. Traders can and be allowed to sell their wares and please save their hot air gospel art for their disciples. My day ahead looks brighter than ever but for those who assume....Assumption the mother of all foul ups!

Great that let the teachings of Buddha guide you.
I am currently studying Buddha in great details. I am gratified that you do smile at what I am posting here. One of the guidance from Buddism as well.

But seriously, still can't see the link, retiree or not... :)

Anyway, all the best to you!

It's not the product being the problem, but the actual SOP and service structure Asus has placed in SG. Also, shipping times for parts are typically woeful compared to comparable market size competitors.

Refund is a nice gesture indeed, but it only comes after they realized they have no clue how to rectify the issue for the 3rd time (or they figured it would be more efficient to facilitate refund than wait another 1-3 months for parts to ship in).

The main gripe is that average consumers have this perception of Asus being the #1 trusted brand in SG. Look at the forums, marketing promos and IT shows and you'd understand why this perception is painted as it is.

However, if/when things do go wrong and Asus delivers their regular subpar service experience, the dissatisfaction arises twofold because of the perception already built earlier. Servicing efficiency is the biggest reason why I recommended people in the office only to get Thinkpads or Dells with NBD.

For the benefits of all others, please limit your effort of "studying Buddha in great details" because no one can derive any knowledge by doing this. :s13::s13::s13: I will never be able gain anything substantial by studying Buddha.

To claim pleasure in accepting the self indulgence of another after shooting one's own foot, that's "class act" too!

I am now dumbfounded, because I know now what I have been engaging with. All the "wise words and advice" about sleeping well and stuff....oh no!!

"A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool."... this is all so true!

Well, seems like you are out to stir trouble. No point replying to you anymore if that is the case.

Retiree? :)

Period..

You will get the pleasure of posting the last message.
All the best!
