$2375 is only $177 more than $2198 base model offered in Singapore.

For $177 we get a 4k touchscreen display over a FHD display, and we get 512GB PCIe x 4 SSD over a SATA 1TB HDD. So much better

yep so next step for me is to look at cost of getting it in, have to pay shipping and GST, on power, adapters can all run 110-240 V feeds ...may just need power cable, next to nothing cost.

of cos its a risk, and need more research needed on international warranty, though if I call Asus I get redirected to Funan notebook.com (seems preferred reseller) who clearly don't want people ordering from OS so not a lot of help....

ASUS ZENBOOK Pro UX501JW-DS71T Intel i7 2.6GHz 16GB Memory 512GB SSD GTX 960M 2GB 15.6-inch 4K UHD Laptop
◾15.6-inch 10-point touchscreen IPS 4K UHD display
◾Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GTX 960M
◾ZENBOOK aluminum uni-body design
◾512GB PCIe x4 SSD and Thunderbolt connectivity
◾Premium sound design with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower

Price:

$1,799.00

Above is from Asus store in USA.

I realise its more expensive of course, but not much (USD 1799 = SGD 2375 today) , and I struggle to see why Asus Singapore dun give us this option. I'm assuming they manufacture these in Taiwan. Tell me more expensive to ship Taiwan to Singapore than Taiwan to USA ? :(

Look at how much better it is.... 16 GB RAM vs 12 GB max, Touchscreen, 512GB PCIex4 SSD and Thunderbolt...:s31:

The conversion is wrong, you can't use Google or local rate. For example if you buy from Amazon, the rate they using is 1.45, that's already $2600 lol. Plus shipping and GST, using cgw rate it's roughly $250. Total to import will be $2850.

Local market isn't big for them to import this model, you're lucky they even import this FHD version to Singapore. Asus got the habit not to ship these type of Zenbook when launched, roughly 6 months later.

On a side note, the power adapter is very huge for the 4k model, not sure if it's the same for FHD, thus laptop definitely don't fit in the portable part lol. And international warranty you need to be careful and double confirm, some international warranty like MSI requires a $120 service fee, and Dell international is regional based too. Still paying $2850 for it isn't worth it Imo, I can get a gaming laptop already, or the ROG G501

PS: Take a closer look you realise the GPU has only 2gb Vram, there's another model with 4gb Vram. 2gb isn't gonna be enough for a 4K display, not sure what ASUS is thinking. And I still can't get the idea why Asus use that super ugly keyboard, and some review it isn't as good. Imo it's not very well spaced out, make the look very werid.

Tks for this.

What is it with ASUS marketers in Singapore. UX501 is not even up on sg website yet...wtf

Would agree.. why stick only 2GB on the GPU and international website says 4GB is an option...

and now I learn 960m cpu from NVidia does not support 4k

so why get a laptop with a 4k screen when the card cannot support 4k playback... needs a 970m...

final nail in the coffin for me.

Well it's because Singapore market is really too small for them to import this laptop. Take for example the Zenbook UZ51 2-3 years back, it was only launched few months late then other countries, they didn't import it initially, and I was the 1 of the first few people who was forced to import from Canada. It was awesome, with the extra little subwoofer provided and that Laptop was considered super light, roughly 2kg 2-3 years back with Ivy Bridge lol.

To be honest, this model sits at a very strange position, not a Ultrabook or a true gaming laptop, sure it does have gtx 960m, but the cooling will be very bad on this compared to G501.

Regarding the 4K, you can rest assure it's okay, for normal processing, as Intel HD graphic can handle 4K easily, unless you are editing then maybe GTX 960m isn't enough as well.

Hey, this is a good question, I always do in SGD, so when I got to do some "refunds" if necessarily, it will be in SGD as well. I am not so sure about USD, but local bank conversion will be very high as well.

I see..
If you check out in USD definitely cheaper than in SGD
The higher charge in SGD currency probably negate any additional dollar you get from SGD refunds,if there is any
It actually makes more sense to me to check out in USD but thats up to individual preference

Maybe you would like to check the bank currency conversion before purchasing anything
I always use mastercard so roughly there is 3% additional charge on top of the conversion but most of the time it is still cheaper than usig amazon currency

Ya I merely wanted a windows based PCIe x4 SSD laptop and so far only lenovo X1 carbon and zenbook ux501 offer it. The 4k display isn't necessary actually.

Hmm but why do you need a PCIE ssd? I've it on my macbook pro 2015, 256gb model that able to go up 1.2k++ speed read and write, but I don't really find it that useful compared to normal SATA SSD", as it will be bottlenecked by Intel U chip.

On desktop it will be significantly different tho. Just my 2 cents

I see if that's the case only 2 choices for me to choose liao. UX303 Broadwell or the rmbp 13" since both have 8GB and 256GB SSD under 2k

I'm not quite sure about the UX303LA didn't try it before, but how much is that locally?
It doesn't come with any dedicated GPU tho unlike the UX303LN. Just Intel HD 5500.

To he honest you should get the 13" macbook pro 2015, it comes with PCIE ssd and Intel hd 6100, I can even play GTA V, in boot camp, 1152x720 with fps ranging from 35-38. Pretty darn good imo

And the 256gb model is priced very low this year, normally 256gb model should be priced at 2.3k but this also means they might refresh it late 2015.

But still comparing Apple macbook pro to Asus Zenbook, I'd choose Macbook pro anytime for its battery and built quality. Also the macbook pro screen is fantastic, apart from resolution, the actual Glass panel used is very good, glossy but with a little Matte coating. And the screen doesn't have those little blurry dots like my previous Dell new Xps 13 or New Razer Blade 14 which uses Sharp IGZO panel, it sucks.

Haha alas I'm a student and every dollar counts I don't wish to spend too much of my parent's money. Got a UX303 8GB 256GB SSD for $1613 with 2 years warranty. Cheaper by over $200 compared to the rMBP 13" with education discount.

A pity to have to let go of the macbook but I can afford one the time when I am working.

But thanks for the advise and in depth knowledge. Laptop guru sia

Hi I'm quite interested in the Asus ux501jw cn212h. Particularly the FHD version. What battery is it equipped with? Is it a big 96wh battery? Because I saw a carousell lost of the same model but it doesn't seem to show 96wh
