I have come into possession of a ZE551ML, with a cracked front glass.

I googled online and understand that there is the need to replace the glass thing (technically called the digitizer). And the steps seem very complicating.

Are there any handphone repair shops that can do the repair at a cheaper price than ASUS service centre? :o

Hi,

I got this phone for abt 3 mths. I just bought a new singtel prepaid sim card. When I insert into sim2 slot, it can't be read - crossed out signal.

But when I insert into sim1, with sim2 using another old singtel prepaid card, everything is fine. Does anyone know why?

I read about the 2g network shutting down in Apr. Is this related to my problem? Does it mean the sim2 slot will be useless from apr?

thanks!

If I'm not wrong, new prepaid cards cannot connect to 2g networks anymore. I believe this is stated clearly even in the newspaper ads for the respective mobile service providers. SIM2 slot only supports 2g networks.

Bought this ZE550KL recently also and then discovered that only one SIM slot support 3G/4G, the other SIM slot will be on 2G only. Both SIM1 and SIM2 can accept 3G/4G but with 2G shutdown, this phone basically a single SIM phone :(
Btw, is the restriction due to hardware or software that cannot have 3G/4G + 3G/4G ?

Should be hardware limitation. Otherwise most manufacturers will willingly update their firmware to be able to support dual 3G/4G if the hardware does support.

Intel mobile processors doesn't support 4G+3G.

I have an old prepaid sim card which works after 1st Apr on 2nd slot. But the new one I bought can't work. But I haven't tested for quite a while, so I'm not sure if it's still working. You can try an old sim card and see if it works...
