Hi guys, thanks for reverting.

if you look at the link I shared, Asus says all Bt10 can be behind a switch, but the main BT10 router needs to be in AP mode.

i wonder if this will work with an unmanaged switch?

anyone knows before I reset my router to try.

No, you read wrongly. That will only be valid if your main BT10 is behind an ISP router (eg: SingTel ONR) or another main router.

You will need a router behind the ONT in general.
ONT -- main router -- switch

More advanced users may have another option for some special use cases.

ONT -- managed switch -- main router

That is not an ONT, but an ISP router, like SingTel ONR.

The picture is not good, Asus should have used "ISP Gateway" or at least "modem router".

That is why in the picture the main AImesh node has to be in AP mode (cannot be in router mode), to avoid Double NAT, and to make Ethernet Backhaul working.

Yes.

Or use BT10 plus a 2.5G switch in the DB box, or 2.5G/10G switch.

2.5G switch: TP-Link TL-SG105-M2, about S$79 when on offer, as you mentioned. There are many other options as well.

2.5G/10G switch: please refer to the 10G router / Switch thread. More expensive.

I don't think there is anything better without major compromises.

RT-BE92U is one option but personally I think it is worse than BT10 plus 2.5G switch, and the price is not low.

BTW, most of the new BTOs will have the DB box not blocking WiFi badly, unless you change to metal door or add things like a mirror. You may want to try it first.

do you think it’s possible to use that (off the wireless function) in the db box to replace the network switch

Yes, that is an option.

Personally I do not like it though as EB810v has less features than Asus routers and it may have some bugs as per the reports. But I guess you can use it first to see how it goes.

Your main ZenWiFi BT10 must be in AP mode.

Ok! Finally managed to get ethernet backhaul working.

Setup as such

DB Box: ONT -> TP Link EB810V (Router with wifi disabled) -> Lan to other rooms
Living room: Lan to Asus BT10 (Main, AP mode)
Bedroom: Lan to Asus BT10

Just 1 last question, how do i access http://asusrouter.com/?

Can't seem to load the page after the main BT10 is in AP mode.

if you want to access your ASUS unit, check the list of connected devices under EB810v first...

i set up the BT10 before 6gbps installation, i using wireless backhaul for the node and the signal is poor, the room where i put the 8 year old orbi can reeceived well but BT10 node no signal at all , i dont know where i do wrong. when setting up the node within 3 meter no problem but move to the room cannot ,anyone?
Edit. After update the latest software. It now can received but still once a while will blink yellow light, but speed is good for my Samsung s23 ultra, still using 1Gbps speed test from 400 jump to almost 900. Just hope it will stable or I just sell away and buy orbi

Place the node in between the master router unit and the wifi dead zone.

Do not place the node in the wifi dead zone (where the signal from the master router is poor).

Experiment with the node placement to get the best coverage in the wifi dead zone area.
