Btw... AT just launched their new gaming headsets, ATH-AG1 and ATH-ADG1 at Soundwaves Studios @ Bedok Mall (Didn't know there was such a shop) :)

Wonder how the 2 cans would perform. Quite curious about the USB DAC/AMP that bundles with it.

I see. Will have a listen to it when I have time. :) Any idea where I can demo it locally?

Tried the A900XLTD with a few of amps but couldn't find one that I liked. Hoping that the HA22TUBE would be the amp that I'm looking for since many have said that it's like a match make in heaven for the A900XLTD.

I've a feeling that my pre-ordered Fostex HP-A4 and RMAing ALO Continental V3 would sound good with it too.

wow. you are well stocked in the amp department.
I got mine from audio bar. Ring them up when you have time i am sure they will be more than happy to set up the demo for you.
I was also considering the Pan Am for a while cos i thought might be fun to try out tubes.

currently i am using CKS-55X. I came to know that recently they just released the new IM50. Was wondering if there is any difference between this 2?

How is this IM50 compared to Shure 215?

I'm quite keen on the IM70, but I wonder if they are upgrade or downgrade of Klipsch's X10. :o

Ok lah. :) Still long way to go. :o
Thanks for the info. :)

Tubes are fun to roll. But expensive and sometimes difficult to obtain. #.#
Personally didn't really like the sound signature of the PanAm. It was very good, but just not "THE ONE".

Haven't tried the CKS-55X so can't comment. The IM50 and SE215 are quite different in terms of sound signature. But the price performance of the IM50 is super worth it.

Trust your ears more. Go demo both and compare.

It should be an upgrade. You should try the IM50 too. Both sound different.

want to ask the pros of ATH,

which recent DAPs out there would be a pairing with CK100Pro?

considering X3, DX50, X5.. and thought better of DX50

dont really like the AK100 and AK120 series..

Thanks brother .. What is the sound signature of the ak100 like? I'm leaning towards the other 3 more due to the price:performance ratio hehe

I'm thinking x3 will be good since ck100pro consider quite bright

Hope the rest of the ATH 祖师爷 come in give views

I have mentioned once before on post #748 of this thread, that for the CK100PRO's in terms of synergy with single DAP setups I have enjoyed them pretty much with the AK120, as well as my older NW-HD5 by Sony.

For stack-fi portable DAC/amp combos if u happen to be using an Apple player, you may look into Centrance Hifi-M8 or Fostex HP-P1 as these are certainly very gd to my ears as well, albeit it comes with extra bulk/portability issues which would put some pple off easily like me so I'm all for single setups.

Have no idea how the iBasso DX50 stacks up against the X3 or X5, but a bro in here did owned the X3 before moving on to the DX50, and according to what he had shared with me previously, the DX50 was quite a noticeable improvement above the X3 although he also sold off his DX50 set eventually later.

If you are interested, the Sony Walkman NWZ-ZX1 will be launching here officially in less than 2-3 weeks time (Taiwan's release date is officially on the 2/14) and I'll be getting it immediately upon release, and since I still have my CK100PRO ard with me I don't mind sharing some impressions once I can get some proper listening sessions with this combo.

i understand where you're coming from.

but the X3 is bright. you add the ck100pro, its lagi brighter.. sibilance would be an issue, 100% sure.

as for DX50, it not only does not synergise well, it also makes the ck100pro abit boring to listen to, in terms of lacking musicality and depth of field. bass is not "stable" to me... fluctuating and couldnt hear a very distinct or clear timbre of bass and mid bass.

AK100, has a very analog, super duper black background, and a good between 60~90 degrees staging field and pretty good imaging. when plugged with the CK100pro, the entire music kinda flows into each other harmoniously. the bass isnt strong, but it is a substantial amount of kick and punch from the bass without bleeding into the mid bass or mids. the highs are much more cleaner and smoother. treble extension is amazing tbh. it makes my heart race. and the mids... damn. dont get me started.

however, CK100 is way better than CK100pro in terms of mids. i swear. im sure Haonan bro agrees with me. :s13:

ty brother
im looking forward to the impression of ck100pro and zx1.

main reason i not leaning towards AK dap is cause of budget.. and i tried x3 and dx50 (but not the 1.2.8 which i heard it was superb improvement)

x3 is quite warm, something like a clip zip after being rockboxed.. DX50 pretty neutral at 1.2.6

but i didnt try these 2 with ck100pro, i tried with ATH-A900XLTD..

so wondering which would pair better with ck100pro.. im leaning towards a more neutral tone, and also dx50 seems a better buy with constant upgrade of firmware.. if so maybe i wait for dx90 see how..

Would anyone be kind enough to describe how the ad1000x compares to the ad2000x and esw9a?

I hooted the last piece of IM70 at Stereo Ion today. It seems that its a popular model. The IM50 still has alot left on the shelves. Anyway, I feel that the IM50 is much bassier than the IM70. That`s just my personal opinion..

Waiting for you to do a W5000 vs W3000anv review :D

The conclusion was already given during last yr's Dec head-fi meet, too bad you did not come down. :D:D

Got a couple of laojiaos there such as Kchew (Kelvin) and other gaoren like Joe, who really likes the W5000 for vocals. IIRC Kelvin heard it through his own Woo Audio desktop setup and says female vocals is way better than the W3K. I personally also prefer the W5K vocals over W3K myself, but I would still say when it comes down to film or game soundtrack scores (I listen to quite abit from Hans Zimmer/Harry Gregson Williams/Yoko Kanno) and maybe some acoustic instrumentals that are more drums-emphasized, I would still say the W3000ANV does have a slight edge over W5K to my ears, at it does bass impact/rumble details abit better than its sibling brother.

I might not be getting the W3K already, the last set was already taken at Stereo, and online prices are quite overboard lately for the W3K. I will see if I have any chances to grab a brand new pair when I head over to JP this June, but if not I will just concentrate on acquiring some other cans as Fostex will be coming out with some new stuffs later this yr, and I hope to still grab a pair of TH600's later.
